  • Expansion: Cataclysm

Engineering in World of Warcraft’s Cataclysm expansion remains a dynamic and versatile profession, providing players with an array of gadgets, tools, and perks to enhance gameplay. With the profession perk, Synapse Springs, engineers can significantly boost their primary stats, offering a valuable “burst on demand” option during combat. Gnomes enjoy an additional benefit due to their racial bonus, which grants them +15 to their Engineering skill.

In Cataclysm, Engineering is notably divided into two specializations post skill level 200: Gnomish and Goblin Engineering. Gnomish Engineering specializes in creating quirky and useful gadgets, while Goblin Engineering focuses on crafting explosive devices and weaponry.

  • Gnomish Engineering: Known for its whimsical and inventive gadgets, this specialization is ideal for players who enjoy utility and fun items to use in various situations.
  • Goblin Engineering: This specialization leans towards creating powerful explosives and weapons, appealing to players who prefer damage-oriented items.

While leveling your Engineering skill, it’s crucial to consider that this profession is not primarily designed for gold-making, as many of the crafted items have Engineering skill requirements, limiting their marketability.

New Materials

  • The expansion introduces new materials like Obsidium Bar, Elementium Bar, and Volatile elements (Air, Earth, Fire, Water), essential for crafting the newly added Engineering items.
