Toys

Most toys can either be found in Winter Veil gifts (such as Stolen Present), or they can be purchased from toy vendors (not Smokywood Pastures) who wander around major cities with their cart:

  • Blax Bottlerocket patrolling The Drag in Orgrimmar
  • Craggle Wobbletop patrolling the canal path in The Trade District in Stormwind City
  • Jepetto Joybuzz and his Clockwork Assistant at the toy shop in Dalaran

Some toys are former annual gifts that can now be obtained from gifts, although they will not award their original achievement.

Event Activities

Quests

There are a handful of introductory quests to help players dive into the holiday. Both factions begin by accepting a quest that takes them to Greatfather Winter to help him with a few important jobs, and eventually they receive a special book containing the lore around Feast of the Winter Veil.

  • Alliance: Greatfather Winter is Here! can be picked up near the bank in Ironforge, and turned in to Greatfather Winter. In other major cities, the quest is accepted from Smokywood Pastures vendors.
  • Horde: Great-father Winter is Here! can be accepted near the bank in Orgrimmar, and turned in to Great-father Winter. In other major cities, the quest can be picked up from Smokywood Pastures vendors.
  • The Reason for the Season (A) / The Reason for the Season (H) gives players the opportunity to learn the lore behind the holiday. Find the quest giver near the bank in your faction’s capital, and seek out the NPC you’re guided to. Speak with them to turn in the quest.
  • You’ll receive The Feast of Winter Veil (A) / The Feast of Winter Veil (H), which requests that you read the provided book, then bring it to the faction leader located in either Ironforge or Thunder Bluff. Once you’re done, that means you’ve sleighed the event quest chain!
    • Completion rewards 500 rep with that city, plus 125 rep for the rest of the faction capitals.

Daily Quest: The Abominable Greench

Unlike other WoW events, there isn’t a specific holiday dungeon associated with Feast of Winter Veil. However, there is a special outdoor boss encounter that is just as fun! Journey to the snowy valleys of Hillsbrad Foothills, and look for Growless Cave where The Abominable Greench dwells. Defeat the Greench to free Metzen the Reindeer and recover the Stolen Treats!

  • Each day, players can pick up the quest You’re a Mean One… (A) / You’re a Mean One… (H) near the Winter Veil tree in Ironforge (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde). On completion, collect your reward: a Stolen Present!
    • Note: If you arrive to the area late and don’t get to tag the Greench in time, you can still complete the rest of the requirements and get credit for the quest once he’s dead.

Greatfather Winter’s Gifts

Beginning the morning of Dec. 25, a flurry of excitement awaits as players finally open the holiday gifts waiting beneath adorned trees in Orgrimmar or Ironforge. These packages hold exclusive seasonal items, including a unique item for the current year’s celebration. A total of six presents can be opened between Dec. 25 and Jan. 2, when the holiday ends. To open the gift and see your reward, simply complete the offered quest.

Mistletoe

Celebrate the Winter Veil spirit with Winter Reveler found in inns worldwide, standing under mistletoe. Give them a /kiss, and you’ll receive a token of gratitude. Be mindful, though; you can only /kiss once per hour due to a debuff. Gifts may include Mistletoe, Fresh Holly, or a Handful of Snowflakes, crucial for various Winter Veil achievements.

Snowball Fight!!!

What’s a winter holiday without getting smacked in the face with cold snow? Loot Snowballs from piles of Holiday Snow near The Abominable Greench, or purchase them from vendors. Throw ’em at your friends, enemies, NPCs, bosses. Everyone is fair game! In fact, throw a snowball at Muradin Bronzebeard or Baine Bloodhoof to get the achievement Scrooge (A) / Scrooge (H).

More Holiday Hats

Even the grumpiest greench can’t help but feel a little cheer, too. During the event, some humanoid bosses can be spotted wearing a festive holiday hat! Slay them to receive either a Green Winter Hat or a Red Winter Hat.
