Starting in Cataclysm, players are able to earn reputation with their guild like any other faction. Guild reputation is needed to purchase guild rewards. This guide will give you all of the details for earning reputation with your guild, including the weekly cap, how to get guild reputation, and what happens if you leave your guild.
The Weekly Reputation Cap
There is a weekly cap on guild reputation that can be earned. You can only get 4375 reputation per week with your guild before you can’t earn anymore until the next reset.
That means that it will take about 10 weeks to reach Exalted if you reach the cap each week. Any buff that increases your reputation gains may speed this process along since the bonus reputation you get will not be affected by the weekly cap.
How to Get Reputation With Your Guild
Players can earn reputation with their guild in the following ways:
- Completing quests that reward experience
- Getting honorable kills in PvP
- Killing dungeon and raid bosses while in a guild group
- Winning arenas and rated battlegrounds while in a guild group
You don’t need to wear a guild tabard or do anything else to earn reputation via these methods. However, wearing one of the upgraded guild tabards provides a significant increase to the reputation you gain.
What Counts as a Guild Group
A guild group is one in which the majority of the players are members of the guild. Here is the minimum number of guild members to form a guild group for each type of content:
- Arenas:Â the entire team
- Dungeons:Â 3
- Rated Battlegrounds:Â 8
- 10-player Raids:Â 8
- 25-player Raids:Â 20
- 20-player Raids:Â 8
- 40-player Raids:Â 10
When you are in a Guild Group, you will see your guild’s logo on the minimap if you’re inside an instance.
How to Increase Your Reputation Gains
The best way to increase the reputation you gain from each activity is by wearing one of the upgraded guild tabards:
- Illustrious Guild Tabard (requires Friendly)
- Renowned Guild Tabard (requires Honored)
Both tabards can be purchased from Guild Vendors when you have reached the appropriate reputation level.
The human racial, Diplomacy, also works for guild reputation, as do some of the holiday event buffs.
What Happens When You Leave Your Guild?
Once it has been earned, guild reputation can only be lost by leaving your guild. Even then, you will retain your reputation until one of the following things happens:
- You join a new guild
- You are unguilded for at least 30 days
- You transfer your character to a different faction, realm, or account
Â
There is NO cap on Rep per week. You cannot get rep from Dungeons or Raids during prepatch for level 80.
