Equipment will be the main source of your character’s power, contributing the biggest bulk of your stats. It is therefore very important that you choose the correct equipment for each slot — commonly referred to as “best in slot” equipment – to maximize your power. This guide will cover the best items for each slot for Feral Tank Druids in the current phase of Cataclysm Classic.

Always keep in mind that with the addition of the Leather Specialization passive ability in Cataclysm, it’s always optimal to choose Leather gear as a Feral Tank, regardless of stats. Not only will the 5% Agility bonus benefit us, but no Cloth piece you find is going to be worth the downgrade in armor.

So, for a feral druid tank you will be prioritizing the 4-piece set bonus as it gives a strong defensive buff by increasing the duration of Survival Instincts by 50%! You’ll also notice that Mastery becomes a more valuable stat as gear tends to reach its best-in-slot potential due to it being a decent defensive option once you have enough of it to be impactful.
