As we enter the final phase of Cataclysm Classic, Blizzard is opening the gates for Mists of Pandaria to follow. Upgrades for the expansion are now available in the Battle.net store. The fine print also gives us our first clue at when we might expect the pre-patch and the expansion to go live:
- “Mists of Pandaria™ Classic launches on or before August 31, 2025, and access is included with active Subscription or Game Time.”
- “…the Mists of Pandaria™ Classic pre-patch launch, anticipated on or before July 31, 2025.”
So we should see the pre-patch by July 31st, and the expansion launch by August 31st.
It’s important to note that both say “on or before,” so we may expect both to launch much sooner. The Cataclysm Classic upgrade listed the date as “on or before August 31,” and it launched on May 20th. However, there was about 9 months between the Hour of Twilight patch and the Mists of Pandaria pre-patch when it originally launched, so this timeline would still be accelerated by comparison.
The upgrades are not required in order to play Mists of Pandaria when it launches. They include new mounts, pets, toys, and transmog for both Classic and retail WoW. The Epic Pack also includes a level 85 character boost for Classic (not usable for Pandaren characterss) plus 30 days of game time. The Heroic Pack is $39.99 while the Epic Pack is $79.99 in the US.
