PvE Protection Paladin Tank Best Professions

Protection Paladins in Mists of Pandaria benefit the most from professions that either increase their Stamina or their Haste/Mastery ratings. They favor professions that can grant the highest amount of raw stats to maximize their performance.

Best Professions

In Mists of Pandaria, many professions have uniform bonuses regarding raw stats, resulting in a bonus of 320 in that specific stat for primary stats and 640 for secondary stats. Some professions, such as Herbalism, Tailoring, Engineering, and Leatherworking, offer significantly greater bonuses, albeit for a limited duration.

The best professions for Protection Paladin in MoP Classic are:

• Leatherworking – Grants access to Fur Lining – Stamina, resulting in a 750 bonus Stamina compared to the normal enchant.
• Blacksmithing – Gives you access to two additional sockets, Socket Gloves + Socket Bracer. Allows further stat customization.
• Jewelcrafting – Grants access to special Serpent’s Eye gems with increased stats, resulting in a similar stat customization to Blacksmithing.
• Herbalism – Grants Lifeblood, which results in a 2880 Haste bonus for 20 seconds. Better during defensive cooldowns when compared to the other professions, which average out to higher bonuses.

Useful Professions

• Enchanting – Allows you to add extra enchantments to your rings, resulting in 480 Stamina.
• Mining – Grants Toughness, increasing Stamina by 480. A very good option, especially when paired with Blacksmithing/Jewelcrafting/Engineering.
• Alchemy – Grants Mixology, enhancing all Flasks & Elixirs. The bonus depends on the items you use.
• Tailoring – Allows you to create valuable Cloth items and gives you access to Swordguard Embroidery, resulting in a 4000 Attack Power bonus for a short duration. While the DPS boost can be great, gaining Stamina/Haste/Mastery is more important to Protection Paladins.
• Engineering allows you to create Gadgets and Bombs and grants access to Synapse Springs, which grants a short 1920 Strength buff. The same scenario as Tailoring, the DPS increase is useful, but Stamina/Haste/Mastery are more important.
• Inscription – Grants the ability to craft Glyphs and access to the Secret Ox Horn Inscription, resulting in a 480 bonus Stamina.

Sub-Par Professions

• Skinning – Grants Master of Anatomy. It has weaker stats than other professions, granting a 480 Critical Strike Chance bonus. Besides granting weaker stats, Critical Strike Chance is useless for Protection Paladins.
