Greetings and welcome to our strategy guide for the Black Temple attunement process! Located in the Caverns of Time, Mount Hyjal is one of the two raids released in Phase 3 of The Burning Crusade Classic. Spanning a total of nine boss encounters, the quest line to become attuned leads players through one, two raids and is separated by The Aldor and The Scryers factions. But before players can even step foot into the Black Temple, however, they will need to complete the attunement process.

Attunement Requirement

In order to begin, players will first need to complete three prerequisites in order to begin the process of attuning to the Black Temple.

• Players will need to have reached level 70.
• Players will need to be declared for either The Aldor or The Scryers.
• Players will need to have completed the attunement for The Arcatraz and Hyjal Summit.

Keep in mind, you will no longer need to be attuned for Serpentshrine Cavern or Tempest Keep.

Black Temple Attunement Quest Chain

Aldor Quests

1. Tablets of Baa’ri: This quest requires the player to obtain 12 Baa’ri Tablet Fragment‘s from the Ruins of Baa’ri. Due to this item having a low drop rate from the trash mobs located around this area, it is suggested to find tablets on the ground.
2. Oronu the Elder: Players will need to obtain Orders From Akama by killing Oronu the Elder at the Ruins of Baa’ri.
3. The Ashtongue Corruptors: Players will need to obtain the following four medallion fragments from Haalum, Eykenen, Lakaan and Uylaru and return to Anchorite Ceyla:
   1. Eykenen’s Medallion Fragment
   2. Haalum’s Medallion Fragment
   3. Lakaan’s Medallion Fragment
   4. Uylaru’s Medallion Fragment
4. The Warden’s Cage: Players will need to enter the Warden’s Cage, south of the Ruins of Baa’ri and interrogate Sanoru on Akama’s whereabouts.

Scryer Quests

1. Tablets of Baa’ri: This quest requires the player to obtain 12 Baa’ri Tablet Fragment‘s from the Ruins of Baa’ri. Due to this item having a low drop rate from the trash mobs located around this area, it is suggested to find tablets on the ground.
2. Oronu the Elder: Players will need to obtain Orders From Akama by killing Oronu the Elder at the Ruins of Baa’ri.
3. The Ashtongue Corruptors: Players will need to obtain the following four medallion fragments from Haalum, Eykenen, Lakaan and Uylaru and return to Arcanist Thelis:
   1. Eykenen’s Medallion Fragment
   2. Haalum’s Medallion Fragment
   3. Lakaan’s Medallion Fragment
   4. Uylaru’s Medallion Fragment
4. The Warden’s Cage: Players will need to enter the Warden’s Cage, south of the Ruins of Baa’ri and interrogate Sanoru on Akama’s whereabouts.

Shadowmoon Valley Quests

1. Proof of Allegiance: Players will need to kill Zandras at the Warden’s Cage. Upon completion of this quest, you will be granted 250 reputation the Ashtongue Deathsworn.
2. Akama: Players will need to speak Akama who can be found inside the hidden chamber in the Warden’s Cage.

The Arcatraz Quests

1. Seer Udalo: Players will need to find Seer Udalo inside the Arcatraz within Tempest Keep. His corpse can be located within the last room before the final boss.
2. A Mysterious Portent: Players will need to return to Akama at the Warden’s Cage in Shadowmoon Valley.

Shadowmoon Valley Quests (Continued)

1. The Ata’mal Terrace: Players will need to go to the top of the Atam’al Terrace in Shadowmoon Valley and obtain the Heart of Fury. It is recommended that you get a party together before attempting this quest.
2. Akama’s Promise: Players will need to take the Medallion of Karabor to A’dal within Shattrath City. Players will be given the following choices upon turn in:
   • Akama’s Sash
   • Ashtongue Blade
   • Bloodwarder’s Rifle
   • Verdant Gloves
   • Spellbreaker’s Buckler
   • Staff of the Ashtongue Deathsworn

Serpentshrine Cavern Quests

At this point, A’dal does not have a follow up quest to continue the quest chain. However, Players will need to enter Serpentshrine Cavern and kill Fathom-Lord Karathress. You can check out an in-depth breakdown in our Serpentshrine Cavern Raid Guide.

Upon defeating Fathom-Lord Karathress, Players will then be able to speak to Seer Olum to continue the quest chain.

1. The Secret Compromised: Players will need to travel back to the Warden’s Cage and speak to Akama.

Tempest Keep Quests

1. Ruse of the Ashtongue: Players will need to travel into Tempest Keep and slay Al’ar while wearing the Ashtongue Cowl. The disguise will need to be reapplied if you either battle-rezzed or respawn in order to get credit.

Mount Hyjal Quests

1. An Artifact From the Past: Players will need to defeat Rage Winterchill in Mount Hyjal and bring the Time-Phased Phylactery to Akama in Shadowmoon Valley.

Shadowmoon Valley Quests (Final)

1. The Hostage Soul: Players will need to travel to Shattrath City to tell A’dal about Akama’s request.
2. Entry Into the Black Temple: Players will need to travel to the entrance to the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley and speak to Xi’ri.
3. A Distraction for Akama: Players will need to ensure that Akama and Maiev enter the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley after Xi’ri’s forces create a distraction. Keep in mind that this is a scripted event so just keep near Akama and don’t pull anything extra. Upon completion, players will be presented with a cutscene.

Upon turn in, Players will be awarded Medallion of Karabor upon turn in which allows entry to the Black Temple. Keep in mind, this quest chain must be completed by everyone in the raid party in order for them to enter.
