PvE Retribution Paladin Rotation, Cooldowns, & Abilities

tbc classic pve retribution paladin rotation, cooldowns, & abilities burning crusade classic

Retribution Paladin rotation in TBC Classic will rely heavily on seal twisting to reach it’s full potential DPS wise, however it’s a very mana intensive play style and not always recommended depending on the situation. We will cover rotations both with and without seal twisting to suit all situations.

Single Target Rotation (without Seal Twisting)

  1. Judge Seal of the Crusader on the target
  2. Activate Seal of Blood and keep it active during the whole fight
  3. Use Avenging Wrath together with active trinkets and haste potion if heroism is used on pull, otherwise wait until its used. You can use trinket and potion if cooldown will be ready again when heroism will be used.
  4. Use Crusader Strike and Judgement when they are off cooldown
  5. If your mana allows it, use Consecration and Exorcism
  6. Use any extra damage items you may have like Super Sapper Charge
  7. Repeat

Single Target Rotation (with Seal Twisting)

  1. Judge Seal of the Crusader on the target
  2. Activate Seal of Command(rank1) and then immediately switch to Seal of Blood before you attack. You have a 0.5 second window where both seals are active at the same time were you need to land your auto attack. This is what you should try to do for as many auto attacks as possible during the whole fight. Twisting should have priority over all other abilities except Crusader Strike if they happen to come off cooldown at the same time as you are attacking.
  3. Use Avenging Wrath together with active trinkets and haste potion if heroism is used on pull, otherwise wait until its used. You can use trinket and pot if cooldown will be ready again when heroism will be used.
  4. Use Crusader Strike and Judgement when they are off cooldown.
  5. If your mana allows it, use Consecration and Exorcism
  6. Use any extra damage items you may have like Super Sapper Charge
  7. Repeat

Multi Target (AOE) rotation

Follow the Single target rotation but prioritize Consecration and use Holy Wrath if Undead/Demon enemies.

Are there any addons/macros for this?

There is a couple of Weak Aura that show swing timer with marks on them for the twisting (Gaffaen’s or Baranor’s WA).

For the marco the only one I use, except for my CD one, is a Judgment/SoC(R1) since every time you judge you want to SoC after tu prepare your next twisting:

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=3 Judgement, Seal of Command(Rank 1)

New to this but still feels good. Peace!

So I should only really need seal of command rank one hotkeyed right?

If you’re seal twisting, are you still judging?

Let me fix that – how do you handle the judgment? Is it much lower in priority? And should you twist the whole fight or only during cooldowns?

Thank you! Sounds like we’re going from a braindead rotation to something a lot more engaging. Exciting.

What about HoW? Not using at all?

The action of casting HoW reset the swing timer wich reduce the number of possible twists.
Some guide claim that it is not worth since twisting is potentially more DPS.

Some other guides do not seem to care about the swing timer reset.
I’d make sure to Swing, then cast HoW, Judge, SoC to keep the rotation going as smooth a possible.

HoW is also quite a mana hungry spell so be mindful of that.

I guess it’s up to personnal preferences at this point.

Peace!
