Blizzard is cranking up the pace with their content release schedule, as it has been just 2 days after the end of arena season 3, and yet we have an official announcement for the release date of Sunwell Plateau and Phase 5 content — May 12, at 3:00 pm PDT (NA servers) or May 13 00:00 CET (EU servers), and yes you read that right, it’s being released at midnight for EU players, yet again.
Blizzard gave us some important information regarding the content of Phase 5, the most important of which being that, despite the Shattered Sun Offensive event being faithful to its original event, wherein players slowly unlock content on the island by completing daily quests, we will be getting all 6 bosses of the Sunwell Plateau raid at once. This is unlike the original version, where players could originally only fight the first 3 bosses (Kalecgos, Brutallus and Felmyst), with subsequent bosses being unlocked as players advance the Shattered Sun Offensive. This will no doubt be good news for PvE players.
Furthermore, PvP gear will have the original rating requirements it had back in the original season 4, which are as follows:
- Season 4 arena (Brutal Gladiator) shoulders will require 2000 personal rating
- Season 4 arena (Brutal Gladiator) weapons will require 1850 personal rating
- Season 4 honor (Guardian) boots will require 1700 personal rating
- Season 4 honor (Guardian) rings will require 1650 personal rating
This is going to leave players who only do enough PvP to get equipment for PvE quite unhappy, but thankfully Blizzard has assured us that season 3 gear (Vengeful Gladiator & Vindicator) will not have any rating requirements, so it can be used as a substitute if you lack the rating to purchase season 4 gear.
Many players are perplexed by the swift pace of Blizzard’s content release schedule, as well as the short notice. Phase 3 for instance was announced 2 weeks before it was released, while we were only given 1 week’s notice for Phase 5. Furthermore, EU players have to deal with a release on the midnight of Friday May 13, which yet again misses both of the common first raid days for most guilds, which are Wednesday and Thursday.
What are your thoughts on this topic? Are you excited about getting to experience the Isle of Quel’denas yet again, or doing the Sunwell Plateau with all 6 bosses from the get-go? Let us know in the comments below!
While i am excited for Sunwell, I hate that we are only told a week out. Everything just feels so rushed.
as it seems blizzard knows how they destroy the TBC and want to end it faster. they just destroy our memories from this nice and good expansion and with it, I don’t really feel good to do Sunwell as well. just waiting for WotLK maybe Activision doing better than that
