In order for players to obtain the Red Proto-Drake, they must first accomplish several achievements under the Glory of the Hero umbrella. Below, you will find which achievements are necessary, and a guide to completing them, if necessary.
Azjol-Nerub
Watch Him Die
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group must kill Krik’thir the Gatewatcher on Heroic difficulty while the three watchers (Gashra, Narji, and Silthik) are alive. This will test your entire group; your tank’s survivability, your DPS’ damage, and your healer’s mana-management.
Gotta Go!
In order for players to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Anub’arak in 4 minutes or less. This is entirely a DPS race, especially since this boss has a tendency of going under ground at the most inopportune times.
Hadronox Denied
In order to receive credit for this achievement, players must defeat Hadronox in Azjol-Nerub on Heroic Difficulty before he webs the top doors and prevents more creatures from spawning.
The easiest way of completing this is by having a player who can escape combat (Feign Death, Shadowmeld, etc.) pull the first add and immediately use their respective ability to drop combat. This will cause the adds to despawn, and allow for you to run down and engage the boss directly; defeat him and the achievement will be yours.
Ahn’kahet: Old Kingdom
Volunteer Work
In order for you to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Jedoga Shadowseeker on Heroic difficulty without killing any Twilight Volunteer.
This is a test for your tank’s survivability/mitigation, and your healer’s ability. When the Twilight Volunteer effectively tries sacrifice themself (when Jedoga Shadowseeker hovers in the air) allow them and do not kill them. When Jedoga Shadowseeker returns to the ground, she will be much stronger, and your tank should reserve their defensive cooldowns for this period of the encounter.
Respect Your Elders
In order for you to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Elder Nadox on Heroic difficulty without killing any Ahn’kahar Guardian that spawn from the surrounding eggs.
The easiest way to complete this achievement is to have your tank (or you, if you are the tank!) pull Elder Nadox into the previous room beside the first set of stairs to be far enough away from the guardians spawning that (s)he does not become immune to damage. Upon his/her defeat, you will be out of combat. You can view the respective positioning on this map.
Volazj’s Quick Demise
In order for you to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Herald Volazj on Heroic difficulty in two minutes or less.
This achievement is a DPS race – the only tidbit of advice I can provide for this is to have your group stacked up together so that defeating your copies is much more manageable during Insanity, allowing you to avoid having to run around, wasting time. If you have fairly geared melee DPS in your group, they can always equip weaker weapons whenever Insanity is cast, to help alleviate some of the damage your healer will have to endure (Along with your other DPS, too!)
Drak’Tharon Keep
Better off Dred
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat King Dred on Heroic difficulty, while also killing six Drakkari Gutripper or Drakkari Scytheclaw during his defeat.
There are approximately seven of these raptors along the boss’ pathing. You will need to pull at least six of them. You can have a DPS (Best to be a ranged – a Hunter is a great choice for Misdirection!) to pull them back to the tank, if your group pulls the boss prior to gathering the six.
Consumption Junction
In order for you to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Trollgore on Heroic difficulty before Consume reaches ten stacks.
In this encounter, Consume stacks every 15 seconds, but will apply a stack per person in line of sight (LoS) of the boss. The best way to arrange this encounter is to have the tank position Trollgore inside the entry to the room, as shown here, while the DPS utilize the pillars, as shown here, to break LoS when the stack is about to happen. You may also find it beneficial to have a DPS tanking the adds that spawn atop the stairs, as they are also taken into account on the boss’ LoS.
Oh Novos!
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to ensure that no undead minions reach the floor during your encounter with Novos the Summoner on Heroic difficulty.
This is a relatively easy achievement to obtain, as the minions are not strong, and can often be handled by a lone DPS. They will spawn at the top of the stairs, and try to make it down to the floor below. They will only spawn until the four Crystal Handlers are defeated. Once those are defeated, Novos the Summoner will be able to be attacked, and no more minions will spawn.
Gundrak
Less-rabi
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Moorabi on Heroic difficulty without allowing him to transform into his mammoth form during the encounter.
One thing to note is that with each subsequent attempt Moorabi has, his cast time for the transformation decreases significantly. The easiest way to obtain this achievement is to coordinate with your group the order in which they will be expected to interrupt. The first couple interrupts are easy, while the ones after become increasingly difficult, so I would recommend having players with not-so-good connections go first!
Some classes do have more than one interrupt, such as a Warrior with Pummel and Shield Bash.
Share The Love
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Gal’darah while ensuring that each of your five party members get impaled during the encounter.
At this time, the player with active aggro (hopefully the tank!) cannot be impaled, so if you are looking to complete this achievement, your group should have a DPS that can off-tank so that the main-tank can be impaled. Once the main-tank becomes impaled, they should then taunt the boss. This process may take quite some time, as the player chosen to be impaled is random, and each player can be impaled more than once (except for the person with active aggro, of course)
Realistically, DPS should hold off until the impales have happened, to ensure success.
Snakes. Why’d It Have To Be Snakes?
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Slad’ran on Heroic difficulty, while ensuring no one gets snake-wrapped.
The easiest method of accomplishing this is to utilize Area-of-Effect (AoE) damage on the spawning snakes.
It has been noted that players who have died during this encounter for reasons other than being snake-wrapped have still received the achievement.
What the Eck?
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Gal’darah on Heroic difficulty while under the effects of Eck Residue.
This achievement is one of the easier to accomplish. When you are fighting Eck the Ferocious, you will want to be hit by Eck Residue. This debuff lasts for one hour, and has no detrimental effects on you. There are a few ways to remove this, so you will want to be careful:
- Ice Block
- Divine Shield
- Dying
Halls of Lightning
Shatter Resistant
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Volkhan on Heroic difficulty without allowing him to shatter more than 4 Brittle Golem.
This achievement is rather easy to obtain – simply focus your damage on the boss. If your damage is too low, you can have your tank effectively kite the adds around with the boss as they do move slowly.
Timely Death
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Loken on Heroic difficulty in two minutes or less.
In this encounter, the main thing to consider is Lightning Nova. Most players will see to it that they run away to avoid its damage, but it can be healed through. Apart from that, it’s purely a DPS challenge. Two minutes is generally equal to his third Lightning Nova.
Lightning Struck
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat General Bjarngrim on Heroic difficulty while he has a Temporary Electrical Charge.
General Bjarngrim receives electrical charges and also has them removed when he walks onto a platform. The main thing to note regarding this encounter and achievement is that his damage is heavily increased while he has the charge active. Tanks should be ready to use defensive abilities to help the healer.
Halls of Stone
Abuse the Ooze
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Sjonnir the Ironshaper on Heroic difficulty while killing five Iron Sludge during the encounter.
Sjonnir the Ironshaper will begin summoning these adds once he reaches 50% Health, so you can burn him down to 50% before worrying about it. Once he reaches 50%, it’s best if the DPS back off, and the tank focuses on keeping themselves alive, rather than threat generation. If your DPS have any form of damage reduction (i.e. Thunder Clap, Demoralizing Shout, Curse of Weakness, etc.) have them use it to mitigate some of the incoming damage on the tank. It will take two sludges to form an Iron Sludge. They are often slow to form, so patience will be key! I’d also recommend literally counting to five to ensure you have enough before killing the boss since there’s no in-game tracker for this.
Brann Spankin’ New
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat the Tribunal of Ages encounter on Heroic difficulty without allowing Brann Bronzebeard to take any damage.
This is another very easy achievement to obtain. The easiest method is just to have your group standing at the top of the stairs, making sure to grab each mob spawning. The mobs don’t hit very hard, nor do they have much health, so if a DPS picks one or two up, they will survive.
Good Grief
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Maiden of Grief on Heroic difficulty in one minute or less.
The only important note to remember is to step in the Void Zone whenever she begins casting Shock of Sorrow because Shock of Sorrow will stun you for a number of seconds, reducing damage output, and the Void Zone will negate its effect.
The Culling of Stratholme
The Culling of Time
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat the Infinite Corruptor within 25 minutes of starting the dungeon.
This achievement requires groups to be chain-pulling, with very little downtime. For most groups it is a rather easy achievement, often motivated by the additional Emblem of Heroism that this boss drops. This boss also drops Reins of the Bronze Drake. If you do not kill the Infinite Corruptor within the time limit, it will go into the portal it is standing near and you will have to wait until the next day to try again.
Zombiefest!
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat 100 Risen Zombies on Heroic difficulty in one minute.
The best way to achieve this is to have your tank return to the starting area (where you fought the ten waves) and collect all Risen Zombies in the entire area and return to the group, who would be waiting at the gauntlet event with Arthas, prior to killing the Infinite Corruptor. You will need to pull up to the area that Arthas would regularly take a break before continuing to ensure you have at least 100 Risen Zombies.
The Nexus
Intense Cold
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Keristrasza on Heroic difficulty without allowing Intense Cold to reach more than two stacks.
This debuff can be removed by simply jumping. When you are frozen to the ground, you can use some abilities to escape, such as Hand of Freedom, Cleanse, Ice Block, etc. If you are a class that cannot break this stun, you can ask one of your party members to assist you, or by using a PvP trinket!
Chaos Theory
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Anomalus on Heroic difficulty without destroying any Chaotic Rifts.
This is completed easiest by simply ignoring the Chaotic Rifts when they spawn. Anomalus will remain immune to damage for approximately 45 seconds after each Rift is summoned, before you can continue dealing damage.
Split Personality
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Grand Magus Telestra on Heroic difficulty, after having killed her images within 5 seconds of each other during both splits.
The easiest way to control this achievement is to reduce each of the images down to a certain percentage before stopping and attacking another, ensuring the chosen percentage is able to be covered quickly by the DPS.
The Oculus
Amber Void, Emerald Void, Ruby Void
These three achievements require no player to choose the respective Drake on Heroic difficulty. For example, for Amber Void, no player can select to ride the Amber Drake.
Make It Count
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Ley-Guardian Eregos on Heroic difficulty within 20 minutes of defeating Drakos the Interrogator.
Despite having only 20 minutes from the time you defeat the first boss to kill the last boss, it is rather easy. If you are stressed for time, try chain-pulling mobs to save on some time!
Experienced Drake Rider
In order to receive credit for this achievement, you will need to complete the dungeon on Heroic difficulty flying each of the available drakes. This will take you three runs.
The Violet Hold
A Void Dance
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Zuramat the Obliterator on Heroic difficulty without killing any void sentries.
This is achievable by either tanking him where he stands, or you can bring him down to the lower level, if necessary.
Defenseless
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Cyanigosa without using Defense Control Crystals and with Prison Seal Integrity at 100% while in Heroic difficulty.
As long as you do not click on any of the crystals scattered around the dungeon, and you maintain the shield’s integrity at 100%, you will receive this achievement.
Dehydration
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Ichoron on Heroic Difficulty without allowing any Ichor Globules to merge.
The easiest way to accomplish this is contrary to what you want to do for Defenseless by simply clicking the crystals when Ichoron splits.
Lockdown
In order to receive credit for this achievement, you will need to defeat all six initial bosses, which will require you to complete Violet Hold on Heroic at least three times. Because of the bosses being random, you may find yourself running it several times.
Utgarde Keep
On The Rocks
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Prince Keleseth on Heroic difficulty without shattering any Frost Tombs.
This is relatively easy to do. The main things to keep in mind is that your tank should keep their defensive abilities in reserve in case your healer gets encased, and to watch AoE damage on this boss, as the Frost Tombs are not the strongest, and can be broken via AoE damage.
Utgarde Pinnacle
King’s Bane
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat King Ymiron on Heroic difficulty without anyone in the party triggering Bane.
King Ymiron may cast Bane throughout the fight, but as long as no one in the party actually attacks him during this time, you will still be able to obtain this achievement.
Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Skadi the Ruthless on Heroic difficulty within 3 minutes of starting the gauntlet event.
This has become increasingly easier over the years. It sees most tanks run to the end of the hall, grabbing the mobs along the way, and burning them all at once, grabbing the harpoons and bringing Skadi the Ruthless down in one pass.
My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to defeat Skadi the Ruthless on Heroic difficulty while bringing him down on just one pass.
To ensure this happens, take your time, as this is not timed. Make sure you have enough harpoons amongst the party to get it done before firing even one.
The Incredible Hulk
In order to receive credit for this achievement, your group will need to force Svala Sorrowgrave to kill a Scourge Hulk on Heroic difficulty.
There are two nearby Scourge Hulk – one at the opposite end of the room, and one down the hallway to the right of the room. Either of these will suffice for this achievement. There are two ways of completing this task:
- DPS the Scourge Hulk down to 9,000 Health (Be mindful of any remaining DoTs on it) and position it under the falling sword and allow her sword to deliver the killing blow, or
- DPS the Scourge Hulk down to 10,000 (or so) Health and complete the above steps, but instead of it being a killing blow, the sword will leave a DoT on the Hulk, effectively killing it slowly (It has been noted that as long as the DoT is up, your party may deliver the killing blow)
Congratulations on completing Glory of the Hero, and receiving your very own Red Proto-Drake!
