Welcome to our guide to the Hallow’s End World Event! In this guide we will cover everything you need to know to experience everything this event has to offer, as well as how to get the meta achievement, Hallowed Be Thy Name, and start your progress towards What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been.
Hallow’s End is available from the 18th of October to the 1st of November.
Rewards
Hallow’s End has a lot to offer across all the achievements, the Headless Horseman, and even the few quests that exist.
Finishing the meta achievement for this event will grant you the title The Hallowed and give you one step towards the year-long achievement Strange Trip.
These items are generally on par with 10-man raid drops, or epic Heroic drops, making them great items for a freshly leveled character. For mount collectors, Horseman’s Reins is a classic, and even works as a flying mount. For fans of annoying noises, Horseman’s Horrific Helm gives you another on-demand noise to terrorize your raids with. Last but not least, for pet collectors, Sinister Squashling is a cutie.
Magic Broom is a temporary mount that you can use during Hallow’s End. This mount scales to your riding level and works as both a flying and ground mount. Unfortunately, this isn’t useable outside of the event, so enjoy it while you can.
Trick-or-Treating will give you a lot of smaller rewards, nothing really collectible but Hallowed Wands are incredibly fun, and don’t tell anyone I told you, but using Hallowed Wand – Wisp on a raid member stops them from attacking until they remove the buff manually. Of course, no one would do that to another raid member mid-fight!
If you get a treat you will get a Handful of Candy that could contain a bunch of different sweets. Lollipops, Candy Corn, and Candy Bars are all combination food & water that restore a set percentage instead of a set amount. These can be incredibly useful for guilds trying to clear raids with less downtime, and classes with massive mana pools like Holy Paladins and Arcane Mages will love to have a few of these around.
You can also bob for apples in various inns around the world, giving you Bobbing Apple, a slightly worse percentage based food that also gives a boost to Stamina and Spirit.
GNERDS, Cinnamon Balls, Spearmint Candy, and Fel Taffy all give very minor stat boosts, but free stats are free stats. These have a duration, so there’s no reason to hold onto them waiting for a better opportunity.
The Headless Horseman
The Headless Horseman is a special boss, summonable in the Scarlet Monastery graveyard. Each player is able to summon this boss daily by turning in the quest inside the dungeon. Despite this, players are able to fight the boss as many times as they’d like if your group is willing to rotate players in and out.
The boss itself is designed to be clearable by players of all skill levels, so the fight isn’t very punishing, but even so, it does have a few mechanics that are worth knowing.
The Fight
You will be going toe-to-toe with the Horseman himself at the start of the fight. He doesn’t do anything special yet, and once he is about to die, Phase 2 will begin.
Phase 2 will split his pumpkin head from his body, flying around the graveyard.. Your group will need to burn down the head before his body can heal, and at 67% health, his head will reunite with his body.
After his head and body reunite, you will be back to fighting the Horseman, only this time he has a new ability. Conflagrate will disorient a random target, dealing 10% of their maximum health as damage every second for 5 seconds. Your group’s healer will need to heal that player up, but even without healing they probably won’t die from one cast.
Once again, when the boss is about to die, his head and body will split and you will need to DPS the body down to 33% to be able to fight the Horseman himself again.
For the final time, his head and body will reunite, with another ability thrown in the mix. The Horseman will summon four Pumpkin Soldiers that will hit your party. For most groups the Horseman will be very close to dead by the time the pumpkins spawn, so your best bet will simply be to finish him off instead of focusing on them.
If the Pumpkin Soldiers are loose and untanked, they will typically be attacking your Healer, which can be a bit of a problem. Make sure the tank grabs them! Once the body is dead, again, his head will split off with very low health. DPS it down to finish the fight and claim your loot!
