Welcome to Warcraft Tavern’s Reputation Guide to the Knights of the Ebon Blade in Wrath of the Lich King Classic! Within this guide, we will go over how to gain reputation, snag the faction reputation tabard, and how to successfully farm reputation in Wrath of the Lich King Classic dungeons.
Keep in mind that all players, except for those who are playing Death Knights, will start out at Neutral with the Knights of the Ebon Blade. When Death Knights have completed the quest The Light of Dawn, they are raised to the Friendly reputation status.
How to Reach Exalted with the Ebon Blade
This section serves as a TL;DR for the rest of the guide.
There are four quest hubs that have quests that boost your reputation with the Ebon Blade. During your leveling process, you’ll want to stop by the following hubs/zones and complete the available quests to begin your progress toward friendly (so you can buy the tabard):
- Light’s Breach – Zul’Drak: Pick up In Search of Answers from Crusader Lord Lantinga.
- Shadow Vault – Icecrown: Complete Judgment Day Comes! (A)/ Judgment Day Comes!(H), which can be found at your faction’s warship. This quest line eventually leads you to the Shadow Vault quest hub.
- Death’s Rise – Icecrown: After completing the Shadow Vault quests, it leads to To the Rise with all Due Haste!, this leads you to Death’s Rise
- Ebon Breach – Icecrown: The Death’s Rise questline will end with a breadcrumb that leads you to this quest hub.
Once you’re friendly with the Knights of the Ebon Blade, the simplest way to gain rep with the Ebon Blade is to buy and equip their tabard and then run (H)Utgarde Keep and (H)Utgarde Pinnacle, or (H)Azjol-Nerub and (H)Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom. Both pairs of dungeons are relatively easy to clear, and each pair has their entrances nearby, which saves travel time. Additionally, you can skip killing the bosses and then exit/re-enter the instances after killing the trash mobs in order to earn even more rep each day. You can also run normal instances with the tabard on, although it won’t give you quite as much rep.
From here, you can do the three daily quests at Shadow Vault and the three at Death’s Rise. We’ve got walkthroughs for these daily quests that include where to grab ’em and how to do ’em!
Who Needs Knights of the Ebon Blade Rep?
Warlock players with Tailoring will certainly want the Pattern: Abyssal Bag, as it allows you to create the largest soul bag available — there’s also always a market for the bag on the Auction House. The Jewelcrafting design allows you to craft a BiS gem, and is also valuable. There are a number of decent blue-quality items for pre-raid and early raiding; the epic pieces at exalted are worthy options for their respective classes. Finally, there’s always the achievements for the completionists.

Gaining Knights of the Ebon Blade Reputation
There are three different ways for players to gain reputation with the Knights of the Ebon Blade. The first way is completing the questlines that we have provided within this guide and will get you from Neutral to Honored. Secondly, you trade 1 Emblem Of Triumph for 1 Ebon Blade Commendation Badge with Arcanist Miluria, the Emblem of Triumph Quartermaster in Dalaran. And the last way to gain reputation is to purchase a Tabard of the Ebon Blade after reaching Friendly and entering certain normal and all heroic Wrath of the Lich King dungeons to gain reputation with the tabard equipped, otherwise known as Championing. The normal dungeons that grant reputation are:
Upon reaching Exalted, you will have completed the following achievement:
- Knights of the Ebon Blade: Earn exalted status with the Knights of the Ebon Blade.
