PvE Restoration Druid Stat Priority

pve restoration druid stat priority

In this section, we will be covering what is deemed to be an effective Stat Priority list for a PvE Restoration Druid in Wrath of the Lich King, and will further explain each stat in more detail.

  1. Haste
  2. Spirit
  3. Spell Power
  4. Critical Strike Chance
  5. Mp5

Haste is our main stat for the Restoration Druid. There are two important aspects behind this. First of all, the Global Cooldown for casters is 1.5 seconds as default, and our aim is to get our Global Cooldown (GDC) as close as possible to 1 second.

With 1 second of GDC, you will be able to cast Rejuvenation and Regrowth more effectively, and on more targets. This can be achieved by getting as close as possible to 850 Haste Rating on your own, without any other raid buffs or enhancing effects.

The second aspect we must consider is that Rejuvenation can be enhanced by Haste, with the Glyph of Rapid Rejuvenation. You will gain 1% Spell Haste for every 32.79 Haste Rating you acquire! At the beginning of the expansion, you will manage to get around 550 Haste Rating on your own, without any other buffs.

Spirit is our second most important stat due to several effects that it offers. The first is that it increases our mana regeneration out of combat by a substantial amount. This is further enhanced by Intensity, allowing us to retain up to 50% of our mana regeneration in combat as well.

The second effect is a substantial increase for our spellpower, based on the amount of Spirit we have. This is imporant due to two of our talents: Living Spirit and Improved Tree of Life. Living Spirit increases our total Spirit by 15%, while Improved Tree of Life offers us a 15% Spellpower bonus based on our total Spirit.

Some people like to point out that Spellpower is more important than Spirit, and this can be very true in the context of gemming your gear, but not in the priority of your items! Do not gem Spirit gems, use Spellpower gems and Haste gems!

At the beginning of the expansion, you will reach around 833 Spirit on your own, peaking at 1140 at the end of the expansion. This value is before any buffs you can acquire, including Mark of the Wild.

Spellpower is an innate stat for all casters in the game, allowing them to increase the potential of their spells. This stat can be acquired from most of your items, enhancing your capabilities. You can also further boost your Spellpower with gems.

At the beginning of the expansion, you will find yourself having around 1700 Spell Power without any buffs, peaking at around 3000 at the end. This includes not having the Tree of Life active!

Critical Strike Chance increases the chance of your spells landing critical strikes. It’s a very beneficial stat for Restoration Druids, empowering most of their spells. However, you should never try to gem Critical Strike Chance or prioritize items with Critical Strike Chance over Haste. You do not require a specific amount of Critical Strike Chance in order to optimize your build — just think of it as “the more, the merrier”.

You gain a 1% increased chance to crit for every 45.91 Crit rating you have.

MP5 further enhances our mana regeneration. It can be extremely strong in some encounters where you are required to heavily spam your spells. However, Restoration Druids have one of the best mana regenerations in the game, letting you prioritize other stats over Mp5.

You can choose to enhance your MP5 with specific items and gems. However, you will dampen your other stats by doing so. You will find yourself having around 30 MP5 at the beginning of the expansion, peaking at 86 by the end.

Critical Strike Chance on resto druids triggers Living Seed – WotLK Classic DB (wowclassicdb.com) and should be your 2nd priority (after 1.0sec GCD) during fights where tanks take heavy damage. Living Seed – WotLK Classic DB (wowclassicdb.com) acts like Earth Shield – WotLK Classic DB (wowclassicdb.com) from shamans on but has no cooldown.
