In this section we will be covering the stat priority list for a Holy Paladin as it applies to PvP combat in Wrath of the Lich King!
- Resilience
- Spell power
- MP5
- Intellect
- Critical Strike Chance
- Haste
For Player-versus-Player content, we have one main stat to be concerned about, and that is Resilience. It offers reduced damage from critical strikes, reduces the effects of mana-draining abilities, and also reduces the overall damage that you receive from other players and their pets.
With the Holy specialization you will want to get as much Resilience as possible: your goal is to reach at least 1300 resilience. Anything above 1300 will make you even more resilient and harder to kill. Considering the fact that you provide powerful healing abilities, stacking Resilience is the best way to ensure victory.
Spell Power is a stat that increases the efficiency of your spells – you will want to reach 3300 Spell Power without taking the amount gained from Blessing of Kings into consideration.
Intellect is a stat inherent to casters – it increases our critical strike chance, mana regeneration, and our mana pool. All of our gear pieces offer us Intellect, however, unlike the Holy specialization in PvE content, you will not gem any Intellect into your gear pieces.
MP5 (or MP/5, mana per 5 seconds) is a stat that offers us mana regeneration. It is extremely important, considering the fact that you will find yourself spamming spells. All the off-set pieces that you will want to get improve your MP5 stat. MP5 can make the difference between a loss and a win in PvP content – nobody wants to be “OoM”.
Critical Strike Chance is the stat that turns your normal healing spells, such as Flash of Light or Holy Shock, into big chunky healing spells that can save your allies or yourself. This stat is mostly gained from our PvP set items and does not require any additional gems.
Haste is a stat that can be useful to the Holy Paladin, however, because most of the time you will cast Flash of Light, you will not require a high amount of Haste rating. You can opt-in for a Haste value between 100-200 at the cost of one PvP piece.
