Welcome to Warcraft Tavern’s Reputation Guide for the Valiance Expedition in Wrath of the Lich King Classic! In this guide, we will go over all the ways you can gain reputation with this faction, and explain how it interacts with some related factions. We’ll also give brief instructions for reaching Exalted with the Valiance Expedition.
As with most Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (Explorers’ League, The Silver Covenant, Valiance Expedition, The Frostborn), there are no Faction Rewards to be gained from the Valiance Expedition. However, half of sub-faction Reputation counts towards the Alliance Vanguard rep, so reaching Exalted in two of the four Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (or the equivalent rep gain spread out over all four sub-factions) is required for reaching Exalted with the Alliance Vanguard.
Trivia: The Valiance Expedition is the main army of the Alliance in Northrend — they fight against the Scourge under King Varian Wrynn.
How to Reach Exalted with the Valiance Expedition
This section serves as a TL;DR for the rest of the guide
As we mention below, there are over 200 quests in Northrend that grant Valiance Expedition reputation. All of the Heroic dungeons, if run without a tabard, will also allow you to earn rep from killing the mobs within. Therefore, just questing and running dungeons normally will earn you a lot of Valiance Expedition rep.
If you want to earn Valiance Expedition rep faster, you can do the Daily Quests in Icecrown — once you’re level 80, that is (see here for detailed walkthroughs of the Icecrown dailies). There are quite a few that grant the rep you want, including two sets of dailies that can be done rather conveniently:
- Blood of the Chosen and Assault by Ground can be done at the same time, and once you finish them, you’ll be very close to the quest giver for King of the Mountain.
- Not a Bug, Retest Now, and No Rest For the Wicked all have quest objectives in the same general area.
If you aren’t level 80, Grizzly Hills also has three dailies that grant the rep you want; Kick ‘Em and Life or Death can be done simultaneously, and Black River can be done nearby (guide on these dailies here).
For additional rep, you can do tabardless Heroic dungeon clears in addition to grinding the dailies. (H)Utgarde Keep and (H)Utgarde Pinnacle, or (H)Azjol-Nerub and (H)Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom are both excellent choices. Both pairs of dungeons are fairly quick to clear, and each pair has entrances near each other (to save travel time). Optionally, you can also avoid killing the bosses and then exit/re-enter the instances after killing the trash in order to earn even more rep each day.
If you get bored of these, you can run one of the other dungeons listed below.
Gaining Valiance Expedition Reputation
Status | Additional Reputation Required |
Neutral | 0 |
Friendly | 3000 |
Honored | 6000 |
Revered | 12,000 |
Exalted | 21,000 |
There are literally hundreds of quests in Northrend that grant you reputation with the Valiance Expedition, from Howling Fjord to Icecrown. Because of this, you can quest normally in Northrend and probably end up Exalted with the Valiance expedition. However, if for whatever reason you need to grind some Valiance Expedition rep, there are a few specific things you can do.
First, you can do Daily Quests that grant rep with the Valiance Expedition. There is one in Howling Fjord, a good number in Icecrown, and a few in Grizzly Hills. Additionally, you can earn Valiance Expedition rep by killing mobs in Heroic dungeons (and the four level 80 normal instances). Finally, you can also earn Valiance Expedition rep by gaining reputation with the other Alliance Vanguard sub-factions (Explorers’ League, The Silver Covenant, and The Frostborn). You’ll receive Valiance Expedition reputation at a rate of 50% of whatever rep you gain with those factions.
Valiance Expedition Daily Quests
There are too many Valiance Expedition quests to list in this guide (you can see a complete list here). Instead, the following list only includes the repeatable (aka daily) Northrend quests that grant rep with the Valiance Expedition, organized by zone.
Click a zone’s name for detailed walkthroughs of that zone’s daily quests; click the zone’s bar to see the list of Valiance Expedition Daily Quests available there.
Valiance Expedition Dungeons
In addition to questing, you can earn Valiance Expedition rep by killing mobs in dungeons. The following normal level 80 instances will grant you spillover rep with all the Alliance Vanguard factions (Explorers’ League, The Frostborn, The Silver Covenant, Valiance Expedition), and you can do 5 an hour:
- Utgarde Pinnacle
- The Culling of Stratholme
- The Oculus
- Halls of Lightning
Additionally, all Wrath heroic dungeons will grant rep with the Alliance Vanguard factions. You can choose to run these dungeons like normal, or you can kill the trash mobs and leave the bosses alive, and then exit and re-enter the instance to clear the mobs again.
- Utgarde Keep
- Utgarde Pinnacle
- The Nexus
- The Oculus
- Halls of Stone
- Halls of Lightning
- Ahn’kahet: The Old Kingdom
- Azjol-Nerub
- Dark-Tharon Keep
- Gundrak
- The Violet Hold
- Caverns of Time: Culling of Stratholme
- Trial of the Champion
- Forge of Souls
- Pit of Saron
- Halls of Reflection
Don’t forget: If you’re looking to gain rep for Valiance Expedition while in dungeons, make sure you don’t have a tabard equipped!
Explorers’ League Reputation Rewards
As the Valiance Expedition has no quartermaster, there are no item rewards for the Valiance Expedition, regardless of reputation rank. However, doing Valiance Expedition quests does give you reputation with the Alliance Vanguard, which does have a quartermaster.
