Welcome to our strategy guide for the Vault of Archavon 25-man raid in World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King Classic! Located within the controlling factions base in Wintergrasp, the Vault of Archavon is available in Phase 1 of WotLK Classic and gains a new boss with every new tier set released.

Vault of Archavon is commonly seen as a loot piñata, as opposed to challenging content. The strategies are very simple, the requirements are low, and the rewards are great. This raid is also unique, dropping PvP set items as well as Tier set items.

This guide aims to help you understand how best to prepare yourself and your raid group for the Vault of Archavon, by giving you an overview of each encounter, providing an in-depth explanation of each boss, and discussing positioning as well as how you can set yourself up for success. We will also cover the attunement process and how you can reach the entrance.

Attunement Process

As with most Wrath of the Lich King raids, this raid has no attunement required and is available immediately upon reaching level 80.

Finding the Entrance to the Vault of Archavon

The Vault of Archavon is located directly inside the fortress of Wintergrasp, available by either queueing for the Wintergrasp event whenever it is available, or by using the Wintergrasp Portal located in your faction enclave in Dalaran.

Raid Preparation

The Vault of Archavon begins with one boss, Archavon the Stone Watcher, but with every new raid tier added to the game, a new boss will join the lineup. Emalon the Storm Watcher will begin appearing once Ulduar has opened, Koralon the Flame Watcher will appear once Trial of the Grand Crusader is released, and Toravon the Ice Watcher will show up with Icecrown Citadel.

  • Try to stay 5-yards apart
  • Move out of Choking Cloud
• Tanks
  • The off-tank will need to either make sure they are consistently second on threat, or to taunt Archavon during Impale.

  • Stay spread to avoid Chain Lightning bouncing
  • Move away from the boss when Lightning Nova is being cast
  • Focus down Tempest Minions during Overcharge
