Recent data mining of the PTR build 3.4.1.46917 reveals notable changes to spells and their tooltip text, item values such as increased damage to Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, and Armor Potions like Indestructible Potion put other potions on a 2-minute CD.
While many of these changes appear minor, the Armor potion change will significantly affect both Frost DK and Fury Warrior. Using these potions before a fight enables them to get uptime on multiple potions on a given encounter. Armored to the Teeth (Warrior) and Bladed Armor (Death Knight) are talents that increase attack power based on armor values, so both of these classes look to maximize their armor for the increased damage. Ultimately, this change will discourage this pre-pot meta or force those two specs to consider their choices harder regarding what potion to use.
Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, will see a damage reduction, which shouldn’t be of much consequence as it is a healer item. This change was initially proposed during the Community Council Live Chat on November 21st.
