Blackrock Eruption Event Guide for Season of Discovery (SoD)

How To Get To Searing Gorge Thorium Point

With Phase 4 of Season of Discovery there’s a new Blackrock Eruption event with its own set of dailies, reputation bonuses, and interesting quirks available. It’s available every 2 hours and lasts 1 hour – meaning it’ll be up every other hour. The event is located in Searing Gorge, and with it you’ll see differences in the zone such as falling meteors randomly scattered throughout (I wouldn’t stand in them!) and different mobs spawning.

New Daily Quests

There are a few benefits to doing the rounds of daily quests available in Searing Gorge currently. One, you’ll receive either 150 or 200 reputation for the Thorium Brotherhood and/or Hydraxian Waterlords. You’ll also receive a small amount of gold, and a new currency called Fireland’s Embers.

The current list of daily quests available from the hub in Searing Gorge is:

  • ! More Like Lame-Bringers!
  • ! Priority Target: Duke Searbrand
  • ! Priority Target: Duke Tectonis
  • ! Sleepless Nights
  • ! Work Smarter, Not Harder
  • ! Grinding Them Down

Open World PvP Bonuses

This event is going to have a bit of everything for everyone. There are some exciting bonuses to the open world PvP when the event is active that should encourage players to have some fun interactions within the zone!

First, the eruption itself will kick off with the Eruption! buff within Searing Gorge causing no honor to be gained by PvP combat. This will make the daily quests topside a little less chaotic.

Not to fear for those who love their PvP though! The Hot Blooded buff will be active within Blackrock Mountain itself, giving a whopping 300% bonus to honor for any PvP kills while active. Being a notorious hotbed for PvP, this should dial things up to 11.

Reputation Bonuses

Both the Thorium Brotherhood and Hydraxian Waterlords are important end-game reputations for Classic Era, and this event is going to give you the opportunity for extra reputation gains with both through certain mob kills and daily quests offered. The rep grind for both of these factions was extremely slow and so Blizzard is attempting to alleviate some of this in Season of Discovery.

Thorium Brotherhood

Daily quests that are tied to this faction will offer between 150 and 200 reputation points upon completion.

Easter Eggs, Rare Spawns, & Secrets

This section will be updated as things are found, but the PTR did offer a couple of interesting finds that might speak to some intriguing trends.

  • Lieutenant Skarresh – A rare spawn that patrols through Blackrock Mountain and can drop Fiery Core.
  • Infernus Siege Giant – A lv 60 elite that patrols around the daily questing area topside in Searing Gorge. Not recommended to solo.
