Cassandra’s Tome is a trinket that is available for Priests in Phase 5 of Season of Discovery. This guide will walk you through how to get your hands on this epic class item, which offers powerful stats and effects for all three Priest specializations: Holy, Discipline, and Shadow.
How to Get Cassandra’s Tome
To get Cassandra’s Tome, you’ll first need to loot a Tarnished Bronze Scale from Chromaggus, the sixth boss in the Blackwing Lair raid. Using this item in Tanaris will teleport you to a red dragonkin named Procrastimond. There are five pedestals nearby. You must loot five runes from powerful enemies with the Tarnished Bronze Scale equipped, and then click on the associated books to light up the pedestals. If you click on the wrong book, you will summon a hostile voidwalker named Causality Glitch.
You must have the Tarnished Bronze Scale equipped to be able to loot the runes, and you will only be able to carry one rune at a time. You will loot them as Grimy Rune, which you will then right-click to get a random copy of a Priest Rune. The rune you get will be random and is not tied to where you looted the Grimy Rune. Players have reported Grimy Runes dropping from the following sources:
- Twilight Geolords in Silithus
- Hellscream’s Phantom in Demon Fall Canyon
- Balnazzar in Stratholme (Living)
- Baron Rivendare in Stratholme (Undead)
- Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance
- Warchief Rend Blackhand in Upper Blackrock Spire
- Trash inside the new Prince Thunderaan raid
- Trash inside the Zul’Gurub raid
The books that match each rune are:
- Rune of Barrier: The Occupation of Suramar
- Rune of Death: Assault on the Broken Shore
- Rune of Dispersion: Old Gods of Azeroth
- Rune of Empowered Renew: Invasion of the Iron Horde
- Rune of Healing Circle: The War of Light and Shadow
- Rune of Homonculi: Fury of the Sunwell
- Rune of Soul’s Strength: Riders of Karazhan
- Rune of Suffering: The Winter Queen’s Forest
- Rune of Surging Light: Lost Tribe of Nazmi
- Rune of the Eye: The Shattering
When you have activated five pedestals by collecting the runes and activating the matching book, you will be able to turn in the quest and receive Cassandra’s Tome.

Received a grimy rune from the high level elites outside Vanndar Stormpikes room in AV -Rune of Homonculi: Fury of the Sunwell
You can still get another grimy rune with one grimy rune in the inventory. After the 2nd one drops, you clean the one in your inventory and pick up the one that dropped 🙂
I did DFC with the trinket equipped and [Grimy Rune] Dropped, when I used that, it turned the rune into [Rune of Death]. I was unable to use that rune. [Rune of Death] reads, “Teaches you a new…wait. Didn’t you already learn this?”. It is unable but I’m guessing it has something to do with this trinket.
