Demon Fall Canyon is a new dungeon, added in WoW Classic’s Season of Discovery Phase 4. Found in Ashenvale, you’ll need to do a questline to unlock the dungeon, and inside you’ll be able to find a new version of Gorehowl — Shadow of Gorehowl.
Phase 5 brings a new boss to the dungeon, Azgaloth, who drops some even more powerful loot.
How to Enter Demon Fall Canyon
Before you can enter the Demon Fall Canyon dungeon, you’ll need to complete the quest Demonic Deceptions for attunement. You must be level 55 to start this quest:
- Accept the quest Demonic Deceptions from Shadowtooth Emissary (51, 82) at the Emerald Sanctuary in Felwood.
- Go to Winterspring and farm Owlbeasts until you collect 6 Owlbeast Pineal Gland. The Berserk Owlbeasts near (63, 21) seem to drop them consistently.
- Return to the Shadowtooth Emissary and turn in Demonic Deceptions. You’ll receive a trinket, the Shadowtooth Illusion Ward, that will allow you to enter Demon Fall Canyon.
Note that you’ll have to equip the trinket to enter the dungeon. You won’t even be able to see the entrance without it!
Demon Fall Canyon Location
Demon Fall Canyon is in Ashenvale, in the southeast — the dungeon entrance is found at (84.5,75.0), but the entrance to the canyon is actually at (84.3, 72.5), so head there first and then make your way south to the dungeon portal.
- Alliance players can use the Talrendis Point flight path in Azshara to reach the dungeon
- Horde players will want to take the Splintertree Post fight path in Ashenvale
Boss Encounters
There are 7 bosses in Demon Fall Canyon:
- Grimroot
- Diathorus the Seeker
- Destructor’s Wraith
- Zilbagob
- Azgaloth
- Pyranis
- Hellscream’s Phantom
You’ll also encounter plenty of trash in the dungeon, mostly Demon types.
Grimroot
Grimroot is the first boss in the Demon Fall Canyon dungeon. He is an Elemental type, a giant treant with the title The Mourning Guardian. He will occasionally cast Gloom, an AoE with a large radius that deals a decent chunk of damage.
The Destructor’s Wraith
The Destructor’s Wraith is a Demon, a large felguard. He will frequently use Destructor’s Devastation, which deals damage in a straight line in front and behind him. When he’s about to cast it, you’ll see a red fog highlighting the area of attack. He also casts Nether Nova, a large AoE attack.
Zilbagob
Zilbagob is an imp inside a large mech suit. He is classified as a Mechanical enemy. He casts Kerosene Kick, a shockwave that will knock down everyone within a large radius. He also uses Chaos Chopper, which works similarly except it knocks everyone back.
Azgaloth
Azgaloth is a pit lord Demon type. He casts Umbral Slash, which splits a high amount of Shadow damage among targets in a frontal cone and puts a stacking debuff on them that increases their Shadow damage taken by 15% per stack. He also casts a Rain of Fire AoE.
Pyranis
Pyranis is a Humanoid, a corrupted night elf druid, and the first boss that you’ll encounter inside the underground portion of the dungeon. As a druid, he’ll sometimes cast Wrath. He also uses Summon Dread Lasher to call adds, and places seed pods on the ground with Summon Dread Seed. Finally, he will cast Enshrouding Fog, which will fill the room with fog and allow him to vanish. You will have to defeat all of his summoned adds before he will reappear.
Diathorus the Seeker
Diathorus the Seeker is a Demon lord who can be found at the bottom of the underground lair. He frequently casts Shadow Bolt with the occasional Shadow Bolt Volley thrown in. He also casts Veil of Shadow, a healing debuff, which can be interrupted. Sometimes he’ll charge a distant player and knock them down.
Once this boss is defeated, exiting the room will teleport you back outside, where the final boss awaits.
Hellscream’s Phantom
Hellscream’s Phantom is a Humanoid, an orc who will hit players with Mortal Combo, a deadly debuff for non-tanks. He will also charge at random players. He casts Spiritstorm as well, which summons a whirlwinding phantom that you will want to avoid. Make heavy use of defensives to survive his onslaught and complete the dungeon.
