This guide will cover how to get the Dispersion rune for Priests in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Dispersion Rune

As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.

Original Discovery Method

To get the Dispersion rune, you will need to follow these steps. If you just want the Rune, instead of enjoying the adventure, you can simply skip right to step 3 without ever receiving the quest. Alternatively, the quest from parts 1 and 2 can be freely shared between Priests, allowing you to both skip steps 1 & 2 but still have the quest. You can also buy either of the scrolls on the Auction House.

1. First you will need to get the assistance of a Rogue that has the Master of Subtlety rune and has kept Jani’s Charm, which is received at the same time. The Rogue will have to Pick Pocket Bloodscalp or Skullsplitter trolls in Stranglethorn Vale to obtain a Mysterious Troll Scroll. The highest drop chance for the item has been confirmed by pickpocketing a Bloodscalp Scavenger.

2. Once you have a Mysterious Troll Scroll, you will have to seek the assistance of a Mage to decipher it. A Mage can do so by using a Comprehension Charm. After the scroll is decrypted, the Mage must trade you the Decrypted Troll Scroll, which you can use to start the quest The Troll Scroll.

3. Head to Nek’mani Wellspring on the island in southwest Stranglethorn Vale. You can fight your way through the level 43-44 naga in the area, or you can slip past them with Mind Soothe and Fade, and use Psychic Scream to buy yourself some time when you reach The Holy Spring, a fountain at the top of the hill (28.9, 62.0). Loot Holy Spring Water from it and get out of Dodge.

4. Now head north to the Ruins of Zul’Kunda in the northwest corner of the zone. Look for Gan’Zulah, a level 41 troll with several minions, near the back of the area (23.8, 8.6). You’ll see a Fount behind him. You’ll likely need some help to clear the way to it. You could attempt some shenanigans with Mind Soothe, Fade, Psychic Scream, and/or Homunculi, but we don’t recommend it since you will lose your Holy Spring Water and have to go get it again if you fail the next step.

5. When nothing is attacking you, use the Holy Spring Water close to the Fount then click on the Fount to loot a Prophecy of Imprisoned Malice. (The Holy Spring Water will be used up, so be sure to loot the Fount right away so you don’t waste it.)

6. To get the rune from Prophecy of Imprisoned Malice, you’ll need to have two different Meditation buffs active at the same time. See our Meditations Guide if you need help with this. You’ll then be able to use the item and acquire the rune.
