The Elixir of Coalesced Regret is a new craftable item added in Season of Discovery. To learn the recipe you will need to have at least 90 Alchemy. This Elixir is used for crafting the new Epic gear added in Season of Discovery, and is not Soulbound. The Elixir is a one-time use, and will be consumed upon use, but will not disappear on death (anymore).
Obtaining the recipe
To learn how to craft Elixir of Coalesced Regret you will need to obtain the recipe. This can be bought on the auction house, but you will likely be paying a premium for convenience. This recipe is sold by two NPCs, Zixil in Hillsbrad Foothills, and Kzixx in Duskwood. These NPCs are both Neutral, meaning you can buy from either one no matter your faction.
The recipe is a limited stock item, meaning the vendors will never have more than 1 available at any given time. As it costs 1 Silver to purchase, players tend to buy them to resell if they happen upon a vendor with one in stock. Fortunately the restock timer seems relatively fast, meaning you shouldn’t have to wait all too long.
Zixil is the more accessible of the two for Horde. He patrols between Southshore and Tarren Mill, stopping right at the entrance to each town. If you have ever quested in Hillsbrad Foothills, you’ve almost certainly stumbled upon this guy.
Kzixx on the other hand is very out of the way for Horde, especially in Phase 1, but he is very close to Darkshire for Alliance players. He stands at his cart along with a guard at 82, 20 in Duskwood.
Both vendors sell a handful of limited stock items, and if they happen to be in stock you may want to pick them up while you’re there. Some highlights include Schematic: Goblin Jumper Cables and Formula: Enchant Boots – Minor Agility.
Obtaining the ingredients
Making this potion requires 5 Stranglekelp, 5 Grave Moss, 1 Soul Dust, and a Leaded Vial. The Leaded Vial is an easy one, they are sold in stacks of 5 by any Trade Goods or Alchemy Supplies merchant. If you leveled Alchemy to 90, you might already have one in your bags waiting.
Soul Dust is obtained exclusively by disenchanting level 20 to 30 Green items. Almost any green item within this level range is guaranteed to give you Soul Dust, but if you aren’t an Enchanter and don’t know any Enchanters, you can pick this up from the Auction House for a pittance.
Stranglekelp is one of the more valuable Herbs available in Phase 1. It requires 85 Herbalism to pick and is found in coastal waters all around Azeroth. Druids have a fairly easy time picking these, as Aquatic Form provides the best water traversal available. These tend to be relatively expensive on the Auction House as they are used for several valuable Potions & Elixirs in Phase 1, such as Elixir of Defense, Free Action Potion, and Lesser Mana Potion.
Grave Moss is even more valuable primarily due to its scarcity. It requires 120 Herbalism to pick and can be picked in a handful of higher level graveyards, in zones such as Arathi Highlands, Alterac Mountains, Duskwood, Desolace, and Wetlands. They are also available in the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard. In Phase 1, Grave Moss is only used for Elixir of Coalesced Regret and Shadow Protection Potion.
Using the Elixir
The Elixir currently only has one use in Season of Discovery, but might have new uses in later Phases. You can use it to initiate the Epic Crafting quest if you have at least 100 Leatherworking, Tailoring, or Blacksmithing. Find the Dead Twilight Cultist near the Zoram Strand in Ashenvale and drink the elixir. This will allow you to speak to the Dead Twilight Cultist, beginning a new chain culminating in receiving a Shard of the Void.
