Venture deep into the cave near the Dungeon’s entrance where the powerful Trogg Grubbis stands guard with his loyal basilisk companion, Chomper. Defeat never-ending Trogg onslaughts while dodging radioactive flatulence in this silly but epic encounter!
This guide will offer a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to deal with the Grubbis encounter in the revamped 10-player Gnomeregan raid.
TL;DR
- After speaking with Blastmaster Emi Shortfuse, defeat waves of troggs to activate the boss.
- Drag stray troggs into the radiation clouds circling the arena. Be careful not to stand in the clouds as they deal high nature damage.
- Move away from the boss when he casts Radiation? and Grubbis Mad!
- If your tanks and healers cannot tolerate the damage being dealt by both Grubbis and Chomper, have any class with a slow kite Chomper around the room.
Abilities
Raid Composition & Preparation
One tank is required, but two can be useful for this encounter.
Two healers are recommended.
Ranged DPS are generally superior to melee DPS in this encounter. Melee DPS will have downtime due to Grubbis Mad! and may be forced to attack the boss from his front during Radiation? resulting in a loss of DPS from an increased chance to parry the boss.
A player who is capable of kiting may also be invaluable on this encounter. Grubbis’s basilisk companion, Chomper, can be slowed and therefore kited, effectively removing him from the fight. Any class with a slow will work.
The Pull
Speak with Blastmaster Emi Shortfuse to begin the encounter. Before the boss appears, waves of troggs will swarm the arena that must be dealt with before Grubbis and his pet Chomper make their entrance. Just like in the encounter itself, you can drag troggs into radiation clouds to efficiently kill them.
The Fight
Grubbis is a very straightforward encounter relative to the other five bosses in Gnomeregan. To start the encounter, interact with the NPC in the far side of the cave near Gnomers entrance. After speaking with her, a series of trogg waves precede the appearance of Grubbis and his sidekick Chomper.
The combination of damage from Grubbis and Chomper may be too much for some groups to handle. If your tank is taking too much damage to sustain, have someone kite Chomper around the room. Any class with a slow will do, such as a Shaman with Frost Shock or a Warrior with Hamstring.
Melee DPS needs to be agile, stepping away from Grubbis’s backside during the Radiation? cast and exiting melee range entirely during the channel of Grubbis Mad!. Ranged players can avoid these mechanics altogether if they maintain a reasonable distance from the boss.
Throughout the encounter waves of trogg adds will continue to spawn. Rather than kill them, simply drag any stray trogg adds into the radiation clouds on the ground. Be careful not to make contact with the radiation clouds for too long, however, as they deal heavy nature damage to anyone standing inside them.
