How To Craft Shredder Autosalvage Units in Season of Discovery

Shredder Autosalvage Units are a new crafted item available in Season of Discovery. They are crafted by Engineers and are used to extract Shredder Turbochargers to turn in to Grizzby, the Goblin in the Ratchet Inn as a part of a Rune questline. To craft these you will need to obtain Schematic: Shredder Autosalvage Unit, as well as be at least 135 Engineering. Shredder Autosalvage Units are not soulbound and can be freely traded.

Obtaining the Recipe

The recipe is a semi-rare drop exclusively from Sneed in The Deadmines. The recipe is tradable, meaning you can buy it from the Auction House if you do not want to farm it yourself. You do not need to clear the full dungeon to have this drop, but you will still need get past Rhahk’zor at the very least.

As The Deadmines is in Westfall, Alliance players should be very familiar with how to get here. Horde players are less lucky here, and will need to find a good way into Alliance territory. I recommend taking a zeppelin to Grom’gol, and swimming around the western coast of Stranglethorn Vale all the way up to Westfall. You will end up right on the coast near Moonbrook, leaving you a short jog to the dungeon.

The dungeon itself should be easy for any group of level 20s or above, and even as Horde finding a group is unlikely to be a problem as there are several very powerful drops available in this dungeon. It is worth noting that the recipe only drops from Sneed, not from Sneed’s Shredder, but the fight includes both targets.

Obtaining the ingredients

Each Shredder Autosalvage Unit is a one-time use item and takes 1 Bronze Framework, 2 Whirring Bronze Gizmos, and 1 Heavy Leather to craft. The former two items are crafted by Engineers, and the latter is gathered by Skinners or crafted by Leatherworkers.

These ingredients should be familiar to most players that have leveled Engineering. The recipes for Bronze Framework and Whirring Bronze Gizmo are taught by Engineering Trainers.

Bronze Framework requires 2 Bronze Bars, 1 Medium Leather and 1 Wool Cloth to make. Medium Leather and Wool Cloth are typically very cheap on the Auction House if you don’t have some already. Bronze Bars are smelted by Miners, combining 1 Copper Bar and 1 Tin Bar into 2 Bronze Bars. Gizmos require mostly the same ingredients as Bronze Framework, just in different quantities. You will need 4 Bronze Bars and 2 Wool Cloth for this.

Heavy Leather is gathered by Skinners, or crafted by Leatherworkers by combining 5 Medium Leather into 1 Heavy Leather. As Heavy Leather is typically only available from level 30+ Beasts, Leatherworkers are the more reliable source.
