In Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, two new items were added to the game that can give you a rested experience bonus: the Cozy Sleeping Bag and Student Fodder. While the sleeping bag is a reusable item, each piece of Student Fodder is a consumable that you can only use once. This guide will cover where you can get Student Fodder and how it works.

Where to Get Student Fodder

Currently, there is only one known method of obtaining Student Fodder, and that’s through the Cozy Sleeping Bag quest chain. This quest chain will take you to several zones and reward you with eight pieces of Student Fodder in total.

You will get three pieces from the Scramble quest and five from the final quest in the chain, This Must Be The Place.

Check out our Cozy Sleeping Bag Guide for a complete walkthrough of these quests!

How Student Fodder Works

Each piece of Student Fodder grants 20% of a level in Rested Experience when used. That is four “bubbles” on the experience bar, equivalent to 36 hours spent in a rested area. The item has a 30 minute cooldown, so you can’t use them all at once.

The item also acts as a kind of super-potion, granting your character the following:

  • 675 health
  • 675 mana
  • 40 rage
  • 100 energy

With that in mind, it may be most efficient to use it in combat to restore your health and resources as well as getting the rested buff.

It’s worth noting that the 20% rested experience is flat, meaning that it’s still 20% whether you are level 25 or level 39. This is how rested experience works in general – you will accumulate it at the same rate regardless of level. Each level in World of Warcraft requires more experience than the last, so this buff will be more valuable at higher levels. You may wish to save them for when you are close to level 40, or even for a future phase – there don’t appear to be any level limits on the item.
