How To Get The Shifting Scale Talisman Trinket in Season of Discovery

Shifting Scale Talisman is one of the few trinkets available in Phase 1 of Season of Discovery. While the trinket itself is a key component in a new quest chain culminating in the ability to craft an Epic item, this trinket does still provide 5 Spirit, a useful stat for a handful of classes.

Any class that has a way to regenerate mana while casting, such as Priests with Meditation or Mages with Arcane Meditation, or even something like a Feral Druid that has windows of regeneration between power shifts, can benefit from this trinket.

Getting this trinket involves completing 3 parts of the Void-Touched questline. To begin this chain you will need 100 Leatherworking, Tailoring, or Blacksmithing, even if you do not intend to finish the entire chain. You will also need to get your hands on an Elixir of Coalesced Regret, either by making it yourself with Alchemy, or by buying one from someone else.

Crafting the Elixir of Coalesced Regret requires:

• 5 Stranglekelp
• 5 Grave Moss
• 1 Soul Dust
• 1 Leaded Vial

Head over to Zoram Strand in Ashenvale. At 17 26 you will find a stone floor with a Dead Twilight Cultist on it. Drink your elixir and have a chat with the cultist. He will eventually inform you that Serra’kis is the key to… something, so that is where we are headed next.

Venture into the Blackfathom Deeps, up to Ghamoo-Ras platform. If you haven’t got a cleared lockout, you will need to defeat Baron Aquanis before you can reach this spot, but with some dedication and maybe a bit of stupidity, you could probably interact with Serra’kis without killing any other bosses.

Interact with the partially devoured corpse to receive a Handful of Shifting Scales. The flavor text on these scales tell you to find someone who knows anything about them. Just like with the Glowing Shard, Ratchet is the place for information. In particular, the new NPC, N’ora Anyheart in the Ratchet Inn.

Before you go to Ratchet, you’ll want to pick up a few things from the Auction House, unless you’re an Enchanter. You will need 40 Strange Dust, 5 Greater Magic Essence, 2 Small Glimmering Shards, and 5 Gold. Bring all of these to N’ora, together with your Handful of Shifting Scales. In return she will give you your Shifting Scale Talisman.
