New Avalon Alchemy Quests for Phase 8 of Season of Discovery (SoD)

Phase 8 of Season of Discovery has added a handful of new quests for the Alchemy profession. These quests award a new recipe for

Major Discolored Healing Potion, a potion which restores significantly more health than

Major Healing Potion but deals 75% of that healing back as either a 6-second Poison or a 12-second Disease effect.

These quests can be started in the new quest hub at New Avalon. In addition, Alchemists will be able to craft flasks without needing to clear the way through an instance thanks to a new Alchemy Lab in the town.

Where to Start the Quests

Looting the Potion Rack in the basement of the keep at New Avalon will give you a

Mishandled Healing Potion. Right-click this item in your inventory to start the quests below according to your faction.

Unfamiliar Foulness

This quest requires collecting

Discolored Beast Hearts from beasts throughout the Eastern Plaguelands. These items are tradeable, so you may also be able to buy them from the Auction House.

You will also need to gather

Plaguelands Bleeding Hearts from bushes in Western Plaguelands. You don’t need Herbalism to do this. You’ll find them around Felstone Field, usually near trees and stumps. They are a brighter green than any other plants in the area.

When you have 6 of each type of heart, travel to Darnassus to turn them in to Ainethil. in the Craftsmen’s Terrace.

You will receive both

Recipe: Discolored Healing Potion and

Recipe: Major Discolored Healing Potion as your rewards.

Familiar Foulness

This quest requires collecting

Discolored Beast Hearts from beasts throughout the Eastern Plaguelands. These items are tradeable, so you may also be able to buy them from the Auction House. When you have 6 hearts, you will be able to turn in the quest to Master Apothecary Faranell in The Apothecarium of the Undercity. Then you can pick up the next quest below.

Oh, My Bleeding Hearts!

Master Apothecary Faranell will give you this quest when you hand in the one above.

Now you’ll need to gather

Plaguelands Bleeding Hearts from bushes in Western Plaguelands. You don’t need Herbalism to do this. You’ll find them around Felstone Field, usually near trees and stumps. They are a brighter green than any other plants in the area. When you have 6 hearts, head to The Sepulcher in Silverpine Forest to turn in the quest to Apothecary Renferrel, who is manning a booth next to the main crypt.

Alchemy Lab Location in New Avalon

In addition to the new quests and recipe, Phase 8 added an Alchemy Lab that is accessible outside of an instance. You can find this crafting station in the basement of the keep at New Avalon, across from where you picked up the quest at the Potion Rack.
