Phase 8 of Season of Discovery has brought several new quests to the game for the Cooking profession. Completing these quests will earn you five new recipes, including two feast recipes that can serve an entire raid group. To complete the quests, you will first need to gain access to the tavern in New Avalon.
Where to Start the Quests
The Cooking quests are all offered by Carrie Hearthfire, the Head Chef at the tavern in the center of New Avalon.

How to Enter the Tavern
The tavern where Carrie Hearthfire is located is initially locked. To gain entry, you’ll need to have a Haute Club Membership Card in your inventory. You can loot one from Scarlet NPCs in New Avalon, or you can buy one from Devon Woods for 5 gold. Devon is standing just outside the door to the tavern.
After you have progressed through the quest chain below, you’ll gain VIP access to the tavern and will no longer need to carry the membership card to enter. Until then, you must have the item in your bags to get past the door.
Cooking Quests in New Avalon
Food Shortage
For your first task, Carrie Hearthfire asks you to collect Unappetizing Leftovers from around New Avalon. These can be found on tables in the various buildings throughout the town. You may also find some on the floor… I guess the five-second rule applies here. There are ones that look like bowls of soup, watermelons, cheese, and bread. Loot 15 of them and return to Carrie to complete the quest.

Carrie will now offer the following three quests.
Wrangling Apples
Carrie Hearthfire will offer this quest after you complete Food Shortage. You will need to collect some Juicy Apples for this quest. These are a new item for Phase 8, not something you can buy from common food vendors.
There are two ways to get the apples. They can be looted from New Avalon Orchardists around the orchard in New Avalon. These are non-elite mobs, but they seem to have a fairly low drop rate. You can also opt to buy the apples for 2 gold a piece from Johnny, the Fresh Apples vendor near the orchard.
/way Eastern Plaguelands 95, 91 Johnny

However you get them apples, head back to Carrie to turn them in and get your reward: Recipe: Sunrise Omelette.
Main Course
Carrie Hearthfire will offer this quest after you complete Food Shortage. You must collect Gently Plagued Meat from beasts in Eastern Plaguelands. This can include various Carrion, Plaguebat, and Plaguehound mobs, but it will be easiest to simply kill the Scarlet Bloodhounds in New Avalon.
When you have 5 pieces of the meat, return to Carrie to get your reward, Recipe: Prowler Steak.
Fish in a Barrel
Carrie Hearthfire will offer this quest after you complete Food Shortage. Head to the dock and board the ship you find there. You can find the dock by following the road past the mage tower and down the hill. Jump carefully across from the dock onto the boat and go all the way to the bottom level (down two flights of stairs).
/way Eastern Plaguelands 63, 26 Fish Barrels
Down in the cargo hold you’ll find some Fish Barrels that you can attack. Doing so will cause Flopping Fish to appear on the floor. Pick these up to get Assorted Fish.

When you have 15 of them, head back to Carrie Hearthfire to get your reward: Recipe: Filet o’ Flank.
Preposterously Prosed Postage
To start this quest, you will need to obtain a Pop-Up Shrub, a new item for Phase 8 which can be crafted with Engineering. You do not need to be an Engineer to use it. When you have the item, head to the road that connects the keep to the dock, near where the floating trees are beside the mage tower.
/way Eastern Plaguelands 98, 91 Pop-Up Shrub Location

Use the Pop-Up Shrub here, and a Scarlet Courier will attack you. He is not elite. Kill him to get a letter called Preposterously Prosed Postage. Right-click on this letter to start the quest.
Take the letter to Carrie Hearthfire in the tavern and you will be able to start the next quest.
The Great Feast
After turning in the quest above, Carrie Hearthfire will offer this one. She wants you to bring her a lengthy list of ingredients. We’ve listed where you can farm each item, but it will be easiest to buy them on the Auction House:

Where to Get the New Cooking Ingredients
Either Holy Salts or Exquisite Spices can be obtained from each of the daily cooking quests above, or from the one-time quest The Great Feast. They can also be obtained from the Scarlet Junkbox that is awarded from the Weekly Quest in New Avalon.
Holy Salts can be traded, and they can also be looted from several mobs in New Avalon:
- Mayor Quimby
- New Avalon Citizen
- New Avalon Councilman
- New Avalon Orchardist
- New Avalon Watchman
- Scarlet Archer
- Scarlet Confessor
- Scarlet Footman
- Scarlet Priest
Exquisite Spices are much more rare and valuable since they are Bind-on-Pickup and do not drop from any mobs.
