New Avalon Engineering Quests for Phase 8 of Season of Discovery (SoD)

Phase 8 of Season of Discovery has added several new quests for the Engineering profession. These quests award schematics for several powerful new gadgets, including an item that will allow you to teleport directly to the transporter in New Avalon.

Where to Start the Quests

All of the Engineering quests are offered by Fizzlefuse, a goblin engineer found at the overlook behind the Blacksmith. He is hidden behind a row of fake trees. He is part of the Booty Bay faction, not the Scarlet Crusade, so you do not need a disguise to interact with him. There are no hostile mobs around his overlook, either.

Nondisclosure Arguement

This is the first quest that Fizzlefuse offers. He wants you to bring him a Classy Quill and a House Prop.

The Classy Quill drops from Mayor Quimby, who you’ll find inside the New Avalon town hall. It does not have a 100% drop rate, so you may need to kill him a couple of times.

You can get the House Prop from one of two places. The easier one will be outside of the Scholomance dungeon in Caer Darrow. It’s leaning against the house where Artist Renfray‘s ghost is found near the docks. The other location is inside the Karazhan Crypts dungeon, along the south wall of the opera room.

Bring the items back to Fizzlefuse to get your reward, Schematic: Pop-Up Shrub, which creates a Pop-Up Shrub that is required to complete the Cooking quests.

Goblin Tinkering

This quest becomes available after completing the one above. It requires handing in the following Engineering components to Fizzlefuse. We’ve also listed the total materials required to craft each set of items.

Completing the quest will get you Schematic: Tinkerbox, which will allow you to craft Tinkerbox, an essential component of Phase 8 Engineering recipes. You will also unlock the next three quests below.

Whimsical Horrors

Fizzlefuse offers this quest once Goblin Tinkering has been completed. He wants you to test out a new invention. He gives you a Pile of Portiporters.

You will need a Scarlet Uniform for this quest as you will need to be friendly with the NPCs. To test out the Portiporter, get close to a New Avalon Citizens and right-click them. You will see a special cursor when you are hovering over them to show that you will be able to teleport them. Teleport 6 citizens this way, and then you’ll be able to use the Pile of Portiporters on yourself.

You’ll be teleported inside an abandoned building where a level ?? elite carrion, The Creature, will attack you. You cannot defeat it even if you get its health to 0. You must let it kill you to continue.

Head back to Fizzlefuse to turn in the quest and get Schematic: Tinkerbox: Teleport, which teaches you to make the very useful gadget Tinkerbox: Teleport.

Much Ado About Magnets

Fizzlefuse will give you a Prototype Magnet when you pick up this quest. You must explore New Avalon and look for sparles on the ground. Use the Prototype Magnet near them, and then run through the smaller sparkling Magnetic Scrap that spawns to pick it up. You need 20 of these.

Turn them in to get Schematic: Tinkerbox: Magnetic Displacement and learn how to create the Tinkerbox: Magnetic Displacement gadget.

A Pinch of Gunpowder

When you pick up this quest, you’ll get some Prototype Nitro Boosts, which you must use to complete it. Use the boosts to give yourself some extra speed and reach each of the following locations in New Avalon within the time limit. Each location will be marked with a red arrow pointing down, so you can see exactly where you need to go once you get near it.

• Behind the Tavern
• Behind the Town Hall
• In front of the Prison
• Behind the Mage Tower
• Behind the Barracks

Completing the quest will grant you Schematic: Tinkerbox: Nitro Boosts, allowing you to craft the Tinkerbox: Nitro Boosts item.

A Complicated Escape Plan

You will only be able to pick up this quest from Fizzlefuse after you have completed the three quests above. You must have either a Dimensional Ripper – Everlook or an Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan to complete this quest.

Fizzlefuse will provide you with a Triangulation Samophlange, which you must use at three different spots in New Avalon. The first location is the gates into New Avalon from Tyr’s Hand.

The next location is at the shooting range up on the hill.

Finally, head inside the inn.

After triangulating at the locations above, head to the transporter device that is next to Fizzlefuse on the overlook. Stand in it while you use your Dimensional Ripper – Everlook or an Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan.

Return to Fizzlefuse to get Schematic: Semisafe Transporter: New Avalon, allowing you to create a new transportation gadget, Semisafe Transporter: New Avalon.

Increased Drop Rate

For this quest, Fizzlefuse wants you to collect some Scarlet Uniform Belts for him to experiment on. The belts are dropped at a very low rate from the following Scarlet Crusaders in New Avalon:

• New Avalon Watchman
• Scarlet Archer
• Scarlet Confessor
• Scarlet Footman
• Scarlet Priest

After collecting 8 of these belts, you can turn in the quest to get Fizzlefuse’s Tinker Manual, which teaches you to craft Tinker: Magnetid Displacement, Tinker: Nitro Boosts, and Tinker: Teleport for reusable versions of the Tinkerbox gadgets you already learned.

Transporter Location in New Avalon

After completing the Complicated Escape Plan quest, you’ll be able to craft Semisafe Transporter: New Avalon, which gives you a way to teleport to New Avalon on a 4-hour cooldown. Using his item will land you on the transporter on the overlook next to Fizzlefuse. This is a safe location where you don’t need a disguise.
