Here you’ll find an in-depth list of the Healing Spells priority, utility, cooldowns, and offensive spells for Holy Paladins! Much like other Healing Specializations, Holy Paladins have a Healing Spell Priority instead of an actual rotation like Tanks or DPS specializations, meaning that most of their abilities are contextual rather than a specified sequence.

Healing Spells Priority
- Cast Flash of Light for small to medium injuries
- Cast Holy Light for heavy injuries
- Cast Holy Shock for small injuries
Compared to the other Healing Specializations, Holy Paladins don’t showcase as many Healing Spells. They have 3 main Healing Spells in their toolkit, resulting in a very simple yet effective playstyle. They are mainly considered Tank Healers yet they can also provide AoE Healing by blanketing the raid with fast Single-Target spells.
Flash of Light is their primary Healing Spell and is often used to heal minor to medium amounts of Damage. The spell is primarily used to blanket a raid during an encounter and should be used as much as possible thanks to its very low Cast Time and low Mana Cost. You will often use it whenever you are not assigned as a specific Tank Healer, and in most cases, even use it on tanks to keep them topped up whenever a huge heal is not required.
Holy Light is the biggest Healing Spell at your disposal as a Holy Paladin, featuring a high Cast Time. The spell is primarily used when you need to top off a target after it receives heavy damage and should only be ideally used if you have enough time to cast it. The spell is usually paired with Divine Favor in critical conditions where Tanks drop below 20%.
Considering its very high cast time, you will use it situationally, mainly relying on Flash of Light.
Holy Shock is the last Healing Spell in your kit, which also functions as a Damaging Spell! You will mainly want to use it on cooldown to supplement your Flash of Light. Since the spell has a long cooldown and fights in WoW Classic tend to be fast, you will mostly only cast this twice or maybe thrice per fight.
Crowd Control & Offensive Spells
Holy Paladins have a suite of offensive abilities and crowd-control tools that are much more situational when compared to other Healing Specializations. Most of their tools are targeted in true RPG fashion against Undead and Demons, having abilities such as Turn Undead, Exorcism, and Holy Wrath. Those abilities will only be useful in specific Dungeons such as Stratholme and Scholomance and Raids such as Naxxramas.
Meanwhile, Holy Paladins also have abilities they can use against any type of foe such as Consecration, Judgement, and Hammer of Justice. Consecration will mainly be used in Dungeons to help with the damage while Hammer of Justice should be used to stun any target that is “stunnable”, including elite mobs.
Judgement will be your bread-and-butter spell to apply Judgement of Light and Judgement of Wisdom to aid your team with Mana Regeneration and small Healing. You will want to apply it to every boss, no matter whether we talk about Raid bosses or Dungeon bosses.

- Auras (Devotion Aura, Concentration Aura, Resistance Auras)
Holy Paladins, just like their fellow Paladin brethren, are Utility powerhouses, providing a vast plethora of effects to their allies! Their effects range from Auras and Blessings which extend to all their party members to disease and poison cleansing, and even indirect effects through the applications of Seals!
You will want to use the Auras accordingly, depending on how many other Paladins are in the group and what Auras they’ve been assigned. Among your Auras, the most important are the Resistance Auras, along with Devotion Aura and Concentration Aura. Blessings will be used depending on what type of class and specialization your allies are, with Blessing of Kings fitting universally while Blessing of Might is used for Attack Power class/specializations and Blessing of Wisdom for Casters and Healers. Blessing of Light will be mainly used on tanks if there are plenty of Paladins in the group to provide the rest of the blessings, to enhance both Flash of Light and Holy Light. However, you should not under any circumstance replace Blessing of Kings with Blessing of Light if there is no other Paladin that can provide it!
Cleanse is your standard dispel and will be used consistently throughout WoW Classic to remove Magic Effects and Poison!
Seal of Wisdom and Seal of Light will be your standard Seals in almost any encounter, although you will primarily use the Seal of Wisdom more.
Lay on Hands is the “crème de la crème’ of Holy Paladins and factually the strongest Healing Spell in WoW Classic. It consumes the entire Mana Pool of a Holy Paladin, instantly topping off any target! To counter-act its impressive power, the devs gave it a very high cooldown, making it a true “Panic Button” in a sense. You will only want to use it in dire moments to prevent a wipe!
Holy Paladins also display an overpowered defensive tool in their kit, Divine Shield! This ability allows them to continue healing their allies while being immune to any Physical or Magical effect. Although the duration is brief, this ability can be used to ignore most Raid and Dungeon mechanics!
