In this part of the guide, we will showcase the best professions for Survival Hunters! The professions are listed in terms of importance, ranking from the best professions for overall performance, to useful professions, and lastly, the sub-par ones that should be avoided altogether.
Best Professions
- Engineering is known as the very best profession in WoW Classic for Survival Hunters in both PvE and PvP, allowing players to create Bombs, Gadgets, Grenades, Ammo, and special Gear pieces that greatly enhance their performance. Survival Hunters can get their hands on Goblin Sapper Charge, Dark Iron Bomb, Thorium Grenade, and Thorium Shells, among many other goodies. The only downside of Engineering is that the profession is extremely hard to level up and maintain, requiring a large amount of materials that can drain your gold instantly if not paired with Mining.
- Mining is a great profession if you choose to pair it with Engineering, not only for the leveling process but for the creation of any bomb or grenade consumable after reaching 300. Since Engineering is so expensive to use, players will always want to pair it with Mining to be able to get a steady supply of ore and bars for their gadgets and consumables.
- Leatherworking is a great profession that can land you some awesome gear pieces, throughout your leveling journey as a Survival Hunter and in the later gearing parts. Similar to other crafting professions, Leatherworking can become expensive to level up or create high-end items without pairing it with Skinning.
- Skinning is a great profession for Survival Hunters who pick up Leatherworking. The profession allows players to skin beasts and gather their hides, creating Leather. The profession is amazing for funneling gold and for acquiring some rare items, such as Core Leather.
Useful Professions
- Alchemy is one of the best professions for gold generation and overall resources during any PvE encounter. When paired with Herbalism, having Alchemy will make sure that you won’t lack any elixir, potion, or flask that you may require during combat. Sadly, apart from gold generation and a steady supply of potions and elixirs, Alchemy loses to Engineering in terms of raw performance since Engineering simply offers way too much by comparison.
- Herbalism is an extremely good gold generation tool for any player as it allows them to gather herbs from across the world which can be sold or used with Alchemy.
Sub-Par Professions
- Blacksmithing is a sub-optimal profession for Survival Hunters, providing only a few items of real value. The only valuable items are the keys that can unlock lockboxes, rods for enchanters to use, and a very few Mail craftable items. Since Survival Hunters can only use Mail armor after level 40, the profession can be useful only in the later parts of the game, for very few items that will be easily replaced by Dungeons or Raids.
- Enchanting is sub-optimal for any Survival Hunters besides its role in gold generation. Since players can buy the enchants from someone else, the profession doesn’t grant any specific PvE use that couldn’t easily be acquired from another source.
- Tailoring is yet another sub-par profession for Survival Hunters since the profession is mainly used to create Cloth items and bags. The only good part about this profession is the creation of bags and BoEs, effectively working as yet another gold generation tool.
