Scarlet Monastery was originally used for priests in Lordaeron, but became the home of the Scarlet Crusade when the undead arose. The Scarlet Crusade fiercely hates any race that is not human, as you’ll find almost exclusively humans throughout the monastery. It is split into four wings, each containing different enemies and bosses. The graveyard explores the torture chambers which lead through the monastery’s graveyard to its crypt.

Location & Map
The entrance to Scarlet Monastery is in the northeast corner of Tirisfal Glades. Inside the main building are dungeon portals for each of the four wings. The Graveyard wing is the open portal that is farthest to the left as you enter.
Horde can easily reach the Scarlet Monastery from Undercity, but Alliance will have a bit more of a trek to get there, likely passing through Silverpine Forest from Hillsbrad Foothills.
Quests
There are only 2 quests for Scarlet Monastery’s Graveyard wing, both exclusive to Horde players. Hearts of Zeal can be completed in any wing of Scarlet Monastery, or even outside the dungeon entrance.

Inside the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard dungeon you’ll find Vorrel Sengutz laid out on one of the torture racks in the room with Interrogator Vishas, the first boss. Speak with him to start the quest. The rest will be completed outside of the dungeon.
At a small house along the Misty Shore in Alterac Mountains you’ll find Nancy Vishas, a level 33 elite human. She is accompanied by Grandpa Vishas, a level 34 elite human. Grandpa will stay inside the house and Nancy will patrol out to the dock, allowing you a chance to fight her alone. Kill her to loot Vorrel’s Wedding Ring, and then bring it to Monika Sengutz in Hillsbrad Foothills.

Heart of Zeal can be looted from numerous Scarlet humans in any wing of Scarlet Monastery and even in the area outside the dungeons.
Bosses
There are six potential bosses inside Scarlet Monastery’s Graveyard wing, but only two of them will appear every run. Three are rare spawns and one is only present during the Scourge Event that leads to the opening of the Naxxramas raid.

Interrogator Vishas
Interrogator Vishas is the first boss your will encounter in Scarlet Monastery Graveyard. He is a level 32 elite Scarlet Crusade human. He is accompanied by several other members of the Scarlet Crusade that need to be killed first before engaging him. This twisted villain threatens to “rip the secrets from your flesh.”
Strategy
- Tank: Use AoE abilities to generate threat on all the adds that accompany Interrogator Vishas. Mark adds with Skull and X and prioritize threat on those targets.
- Healer: Focus healing on your tank, but be ready to quickly heal any DPS that pull aggro.
- Damage Dealers: This fight is a tank and spank so you should do as much damage as possible while watching your threat. Damage dealers should focus on killing the adds before engaging Interrogator Vishas.
Loot
Ironspire (Rare)
Ironspine is one of the three possible rare mobs who spawn in Scarlet Monastery Graveyard.
Strategy
- Tank: Tank the boss away from the group, and move him far from any poison clouds so your melee DPS are safe to attack.
- Healer: Decurse Curse of Weakness if you are able. Avoid Poison Clouds.
- Damage Dealers: Decurse Curse of Weakness if you are able. Avoid Poison Clouds.
Loot
Fallen Champion (Rare)
Fallen Champion is one of the three possible rare mobs who spawn in Scarlet Monastery Graveyard.
Strategy
- Tank: Tank the boss facing away from other party members so that they are not Cleaved.
- Healer: This is a tank and spank, so just keep your group members topped off.
- Damage Dealers: Stand behind the boss to avoid being hit by Cleave. This is a Tank and Spank.
Loot
Azshir the Sleepless (Rare)
Azshir is one of the three possible rare mobs who spawn in the Scarlet Monastery Graveyard. Be careful of his fear ability.
Strategy
- Tank: Clear any adds from the area before engaging the Azshir. Tank the boss away from healers and ranged DPS.
- Healer: Be aware of players afflicted with Call of the Grave, as it deals damage when the debuff expires.
- Damage Dealers: Interrupt Soul Siphon. Clear out adds from the area to avoid pulling them while feared.
Loot
Bloodmage Thalnos
Bloodmage Thalnos is the last boss of Scarlet Monastery Graveyard. He is a level 34 elite Undead which can be found at the very bottom of the crypt. He is not accompanied by any other adds, but in order to reach him you will have to clear the entire crypt.
Strategy
- Tank: This fight is a tank and spank so you should focus on doing as much threat as possible on the boss, so the DPS can go all-out. Bloodmage Thalnos casts Shadow Bolt and can not be interrupted. If you are already at low HP, consider running away when he begins casting Flame Spike to avoid taking damage.
- Healer: Be sure to stand as far away from the boss as possible to avoid getting hit by his Flame Spike. Be ready to heal any group members that did not make it out of Flame Spike in time.
- Damage Dealers: This fight is a tank and spank so you should do as much damage as possible while watching your threat. Bloodmage Thalnos casts Shadow Bolt, Flame Spike, Flame Shock and can not be interrupted. If you are a ranged DPS, be sure to stand as far away from the boss as possible to avoid getting hit by his Flame Spike. If you are a melee DPS, consider running away when he begins casting Flame Spike to avoid taking damage.
Loot
Scorn (Scourge Event)
Scorn is only available during the Scourge Invasion. Make sure to get any of the items off of him before he disappears. He hits harder than your average mob in this dungeon so approach him warily. He only spawns after Bloodmage Thalnos has been defeated.
Strategy
- Tank: Scorn hits hard and with his magic abilities can cut through your armor more than usual. You will be knocked back by Lich Slap so stand with your back to the wall when tanking him.
- Healer: Watch your tank’s health carefully as they will be hit frequently with Lich Slap which hits hard and knocks them into the air.
- Damage Dealers: Make sure to stay behind him so you don’t get hit by his Lich Slap. Deal as much damage as possible to end the fight quickly.
