There’s a new set of items in Phase 7 of Season of Discovery which can be upgraded and offer a scaling bonus for each piece of Sanctified gear you have equipped while you are inside the Naxxramas raid. These items all share the name Seal of the Dawn, and there is a version for tanks, a version for healers, and a version for damage dealers, each with 10 progressively more powerful ranks to earn.

Seal of the Dawn Trinkets

You can obtain your initial Seal of the Dawn from Kug Softjaw inside the Naxxramas instance. You’ll find him in the middle, very close to the entrance. He offers the quest Hope Begins in the Dark, which you can simply turn in to him to get your Seal.

The Seal of the Dawn is an item that you can carry in your inventory which provides your character with a buff when used. This buff allows the collection of scourgestones as if you were wearing an Argent Dawn Commission or similar trinket. It also confers a buff based on the number of Sanctified items you have equipped.

How to Upgrade the Seal of the Dawn

Seal of the Dawn upgrades are gated, with a maximum rank that can be reached each week. Each rank requires a progressively higher number of Remnants of Valor to purchase. Once you have upgraded one version of the item, you will be able to upgrade the other versions (tank, healer, or DPS) for free.

The effectiveness of your Seal of the Dawn will be capped based on how many quarters are empowered in Naxxramas. With zero quarters empowered, the Seal of the Dawn will only grant its buff up to rank 2.

How to Get Remnants of Valor

The Remnants of Valor that are needed to upgrade your Seal of the Dawn can be earned in the following ways:

  • As drops from bosses in Naxxramas which can be looted by everyone in the raid. Bosses killed on higher difficulties will drop more Remnants of Valor.
  • The repeatable quest Never at Rest awards Remnants of Valor. The number awarded will start small, but will increase every few weeks, allowing players who fall behind to catch up. This quest is offered by Brother Luctus near Light’s Hope Chapel in Eastern Plaguelands, or by his soul projection in any active Scourge Invasion zone. Completing it requires handing in a Heart of Doom, which is dropped by Shadow of Doom from the invasion.
  • Brother Luctus will also offer Remnants of Valor in exchange for Argent Dawn Valor Tokens.
  • In the Karazhan Crypts dungeon, you can loot 10 Remnants of Valor per boss.
  • Remnants of Valor can also be looted in Scholomance and Stratholme Undead once per day, on the same timer as Tarnished Undermine Reals.

Remnants of Valor are Bind on Account and can be traded to your alts.

Sanctified Gear

Sanctified is a special tag that appears on a lot of endgame gear in Phase 7:

  • Gear that drops inside Naxxramas, including all Tier 3 set items, are Sanctified. You can see it all in our Naxxramas Loot Guide.
  • Some gear that drops inside the new Karazhan Crypts dungeon is Sanctified. You can find it in our Karazhan Crypts Loot Guide.
  • The Undead Slaying pieces that drop from the Scourge Invasion event are each considered Sanctified. These are also listed in our Karazhan Crypts Loot Guide, as they have a chance to drop there as well.
    • Wearing a full 3-piece Undead Slaying set counts for an additional +2 Sanctified.
  • Rewards for the quests Superior Armaments of the Battle and Epic Armaments of the Battle, shown in the table below, are Sanctified.
  • All of the new Frost Resistance gear that can be crafted with Blacksmithing, Tailoring, and Leatherworking is Sanctified. These recipes can be found on their respective profession pages.

While most Sanctified gear drops inside the Naxxramas raid, you’ll be able to reach +5 Sanctified just with a 3-piece Undead Slaying set, and you can get a few Sanctified pieces from Karazhan Crypts as well.

There is a cap on the number of Sanctified pieces that can contribute to these bonuses. Wearing any more than 8 pieces of Sanctified gear will not grant any additional bonuses from your Seal of the Dawn. (There’s no actual harm in doing so, you just won’t increase the bonus beyond 8.)

Armaments of the Battle Rewards

These items are rewards for the quests Superior Armaments of the Battle and Epic Armaments of the Battle, which require handing in Insignia of the Dawn and Insignia of the Crusade.
