Phase 6 of Season of Discovery retains the 300 skill cap introduced in Phase 3 for professions, allowing players to max out their crafting and gathering skills in case they haven’t already done so. For the Herbalism profession (Herb Gathering), that means you’ll be able to farm every single plant, especially the highly coveted Black Lotuses.
Herbalism Leveling & Trainers
Check out our Classic Herbalism Guide for trainer locations, a leveling guide, and more. Everything in that guide should apply to Season of Discovery.
Learning Artisan Herbalism
From Phase 3 onward, players were able to level their professions all the way to 300 skill, or Artisan level – the maximum skill for Vanilla WoW. In Season of Discovery, Artisan Herbalism (Herb Gathering) can be learned from any Herbalism Trainer located in the major cities, meaning you don’t have to hunt for specific NPCs!
Keep in mind that the level restrictions brought by the Season of Discovery still apply in Phase 6! Your character will need to be at least level 41 to be able to learn Artisan Herb Gathering and at least level 26 to learn Expert Herb Gathering,
Phase 6 Herbalism Equipment & Enchants
Besides the normal 300-skill cap for Herbalism Herb Gathering, players can use different enchants and equipment pieces to elevate their skill even further. This is not necessarily required as it is with Mining, but rather useful while trying to level up between 225-300 skill.
There are a few ways to increase your Herb Gathering skill beyond the 225 cap:
- Enchant Gloves – Herbalism adds 2 points
- Enchant Gloves – Advanced Herbalism adds 5 points
- Herbalist’s Gloves add 5 points
- The Tauren racial Cultivation adds 15 points
There is one piece of equipment that can increase your Herb Gathering skill: Herbalist’s Gloves. These Herbalism gloves can be crafted with a Leatherworking skill of 135. Pattern: Herbalist’s Gloves is sold in limited supply by Harlown Darkweave at Bolyun’s Camp in southwest Ashenvale (18.2, 60.0). Horde will have to buy either the pattern or the gloves themselves off the Auction House. Remember to check the neutral Auction House in Booty Bay if they aren’t available from the main one.
There are also two glove enchantments that can increase your Herbalism skill if you can find someone with the appropriate Enchanting formulas:
- Enchant Gloves – Advanced Herbalism (+5)
- Formula: Enchant Gloves – Herbalism drops from Ancients in Stonetalon Mountains
- Enchant Gloves – Herbalism (+2)
- Formula: Enchant Gloves – Advanced Herbalism drops from Timberlings in Swamp of Sorrows
