Phase 6 of Season of Discovery retains the 300 skill cap introduced in Phase 3 for professions, allowing players to max out their crafting and gathering skills in case they haven’t already done so. For the Leatherworking profession, you’ll be able to stitch together most of the patterns in the game, and a few new craftable items that have been added for this season.
Leatherworking Leveling & Trainers
Check out our Classic Leatherworking Guide for trainer locations, a leveling guide, and more. Everything in that guide applies to Season of Discovery except for the level requirements for higher skill ranks (level 26 for Expert and level 41 for Artisan). There are some new recipes that are exclusive to Season of Discovery which we’ll cover in this guide, but they aren’t needed for leveling.
Learning Artisan Leatherworking
From Phase 3 onward, players were able to level their professions all the way to 300 skill, or Artisan level – the maximum skill for Vanilla WoW.
Artisan Leatherworking can only be learned from these specific trainers:
- Drakk Stonehand at Aerie Peak in The Hinterlands (13.4, 43.5)
- Hahrana Ironhide at Camp Mojache in Feralas (74.4, 43.1)
Leatherworking Specializations
In Season of Discovery, Leatherworking Specializations took an unexpected beneficial turn, with players now able to craft many overhauled recipes for either type of specialization they acquire! Additionally, players are given many recipes that are not bound to a specific Specialization, allowing all leatherworkers to craft them. Furthermore, as of Phase 5 of Season of Discovery, players are no longer limited to a single specialization, with the developers removing the mutually exclusive limit for the profession.
Along with Artisan Leatherworking, you can now learn all of the following specializations in Season of Discovery:
- Dragonscale Leatherworking focuses on mail armor
- Elemental Leatherworking focuses on leather Agility armor and elemental resistance armor
- Tribal Leatherworking focuses on leather Intellect and Agility armor
For a complete breakdown of what each specialization offers and a walkthrough for completing the quests, check out our Leatherworking Specializations Guide.

not much of a guide..
First paragraph has a link to the guide.
“Check out our Classic Leatherworking Guide for trainer locations, a leveling guide, and more. “
You cannot get the Wild Leather patterns from Jangdor Swiftstrider in Camp Mojache!!!! Don’t be like me and head over there with 10 thick leather and all the leather working gear required because there is no option to turn in those items. I guess in the very beginning of phase 2 Blizzard made the Wild Leather patterns available from Jangdor but they took it away.
“Feral Druids will be disappointed to learn that the recipe for Wolfshead Helm is locked behind the Tribal Leatherworking quests.”
who the fuk wants a +10 spirit helm as feral?
You want it for the 20 energy it refunds. It’s BiS throughout classic and TBC.
