How to Get the Carve Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
This rune can be discovered in four different zones: Dun Morogh, Durotar, Mulgore, or Teldrassil.
Dun Morogh ( Alliance Zone)
To get the Carve rune, you will need to be at least level 10 and have the Tame Beast ability trained.
Head to Gol’Bolar Quarry in Dun Morogh and kill Rockjaw Troggs until one drops a Rabbit Musk.
Find a Rabbit critter and use the Rabbit Musk in your bag, then use your Tame Beast ability on the Rabbit. You don’t need to dismiss or abandon your current pet for this. Don’t use your Hearthstone while you have the rabbit or you will lose it.
Find Toby at Amberstill Ranch around 64, 50 and speak with him to trade the rabbit for a Rune of Carve.
Durotar ( Horde Zone)
To get the Carve rune, you will need to be at least level 10 and have the Tame Beast ability trained.
Head to Durotar and kill quillboars until one drops an Adder Pheromone.
Find an Adder critter and use the Adder Pheromone in your bag, then use your Tame Beast ability on the Adder. You don’t need to dismiss or abandon your current pet for this. Don’t use your Hearthstone while you have the adder or you will lose it.
Find Razzil in Razor Hill around 52, 44 and speak with him to trade the adder for a Rune of Carve.
Mulgore ( Horde Zone)
To get the Carve rune, you will need to be at least level 10 and have the Tame Beast ability trained.
Head to southern Mulgore and kill gnolls until one drops a Prairie Dog Musk.
Find a Prairie Dog critter and use the Prairie Dog Musk in your bag, then use your Tame Beast ability on the Prairie Dog. You don’t need to dismiss or abandon your current pet for this. Don’t use your Hearthstone while you have the prairie dog or you will lose it.
Find Takoda Sunmane in Bloodhoof Village around 46, 60 and speak with her to trade the prairie dog for a Rune of Carve.
Teldrassil ( Alliance Zone)
To get the Carve rune, you will need to be at least level 10 and have the Tame Beast ability trained.
Head to Teldrassil and kill furbolgs until one drops a Deer Musk.
Find a Deer critter and use the Deer Musk in your bag, then use your Tame Beast ability on the Deer. You don’t need to dismiss or abandon your current pet for this. Don’t use your Hearthstone while you have the deer or you will lose it.
Find Relaeron in the Cenarion Enclave in Darnassus around 40, 9 and speak with him to trade the deer for a Rune of Carve.
Do not use the Deer Musk until you have Tame Beast at level 10. It simply gives you a 10 minute buff that allows your Tame Beast ability to tame a deer critter. The guide should be worded differently to reflect this.
Reworded, thanks!
The “Snake Charmer” in Razor Hill is called Razzil. He’s standing to the left when you enter Razor Hill from the South
Nightelves need to bring a deer near the darnassus hunter trainer to the “caretaker” NPC ((To tame a deer you need a “Deer Musk, dropped by Fulbolgs for me”
