How to Get the Furious Thunder Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
This rune can be discovered in any starting zone: Dun Morogh, Durotar, Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, Teldrassil, or Tirisfal Glades.
Dun Morogh ( Alliance Zone)
To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head to Dun Morogh and kill any of the following:
- Bjarn, a level 12 rare bear that spawns near Gol’bolar Quarry
- Edan the Howler, a level 9 yeti that spawns between Kharanos and the lake to the west
- Fyodi, a level 7 boar that spawns in the northwest corner of the map around Brewnall Village
- Great Father Arctikus, a level 11 rare troll that spawns inside Frostmane Hold in the west
- Mangeclaw, a level 11 bear that lives in the northeast hills
- Old Icebeard, a level 11 elite yeti that spawns in the Grizzled Den, a cave southwest of Kharanos
- Vagash, a level 11 elite yeti that spawns in a cave just north of where the road forks for Gol’Bolar Quarry
- Vejrek, a level 11 troll that spawns inside Frostmane Hold in the west

Durotar ( Horde Zone)
To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head to Durotar and kill any of the following:
- Death Flayer, a level 11 scorpid that spawns in the western part of the zone, south of the road toward The Barrens
- Felweaver Scornn, a level 11 rare elite orc inside Skull Rock, the cave on the northeast edge of the zone
- Gazz’uz, a level 14 orc that can be found inside Skull Rock, the cave on the northeast edge of the zone
- Geolord Mottle, a level 9 rare quilboar who spawns in the quilboar camps around the center of the zone
- Lightning Hide, a level 11 thunder lizard that can be found in the northwestern canyons
- Makasgar, a level 12 troll who spawns along the southwestern shore, northwest of Sen’jin Village
- Sarkoth, a level 4 scorpid that can be found in the Valley of Trials
- Zalazane, a level 10 troll that can be found on the Echo Isles off the southwest coast

Elwynn Forest ( Alliance Zone)
To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head to Elwynn Forest and kill any of the following:
- Goldtooth, a level 8 kobold that lives inside Fargodeep Mine south of Goldshire
- Gruff Swiftbite, a level 12 gnoll that can be found in the same area as Hogger
- Hogger, everyone’s favorite level 11 elite, who can be found in the southwestern corner of the zone
- Mother Fang, a level 10 rare spider in Jasperlode Mine east of Northshire
- Narg the Taskmaster, a level 10 rare kobold in Farogdeep Mine south of Goldshire

Mulgore ( Horde Zone)
To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head to Mulgore and kill any of the following:
- Arra’chea, a level 11 kodo who spawns in the open fields east of Thunder Bluff
- Ghost Howl, a level 12 rare wolf in the open plans southeast of Thunder Bluff
- Lurkmane, a level 6-7 elite gnoll inside Palemane Rock in the west of the zone
- Mazzranache, a level 9 tallstrider that can be found southwest of Thunder Bluff
- Sister Hatelash, a level 11 rare elite harpy who can spawn in any of the harpy camps on the north end of the zone
- Snagglespear, a level 9 rare gnoll south of Bloodhoof Village
- The Rake, a level 10 rare cat in the open plains northeast of Thunder Bluff

To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head all the way to the bottom of Ban’ethil Barrow Den in Teldrassil, directly west of Dolanaar. You’ll find a Gnarline Cache. Loot this chest for a Rune of Furious Thunder. Right-click this item to learn the rune.
Tirisfal Glades ( Horde Zone)
To acquire the Furious Thunder rune, head to the Solliden Farmstead in western Tirisfal Glades and follow the path west of the tower to a small lake in the mountains, around 27, 47. There you’ll find Gillgar, a level 7 elite murloc. Kill him to loot a Rune of Furious Thunder. Right-click this item to learn the rune.
