This guide will cover how to get the Power Word: Barrier rune for Priests in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Power Word: Barrier Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
To get the Power Word: Barrier rune, head to Stonewatch Keep on the east side of Lake Everstill in Redridge Mountains. The bridge to enter it is located around 62, 64. This area is crowded with level 22+ elites, and you’re likely to have competition from other players – including players of the opposite faction.
Kill Blackrock Shadowcasters, level 23 elite orcs, until one drops a Prophecy of a City Enthralled.
This item can also drop from Incinerator Gar’im in Render’s Valley, which is in the southeastern corner of the zone around 77, 85. This method does not have a 100% drop rate, so you may have to kill him several times, but if you have a warlock buddy who is looking for the Incinerate Rune, you can potentially get both at the same time.
To get the rune from Prophecy of a City Enthralled, you’ll need to have two different Meditation buffs active at the same time. See our Meditations Guide if you need help with this. You’ll then be able to use the item and acquire the rune.
About the Author
The shawdowcasters drop the item. You can solo this quest, even though they are elite. There’s a bridge to cross to the keep, and it’s guarded by two elites. If you can’t handle them both, just hide around the rocks towards the south and log out. The area is heavily contested, and the bridge gets cleared out all day long. To solo, I hid to the right of the castle, and drew one guard at a time, kiting them back away from the entrance where the opposite faction will see you and kill you. When the two guards at the entrance are dead, keep coming back until you see the shadow caster patrolling outside the entrance. He dropped it for me on the first kill.
The Shadowcasters might have, at least, higher drop rate or the rune only drops from the Shadowcasters
