How to Get the Raging Blow Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
To unlock the Raging Blow rune, you will need to gather three items to bring to a gnome in Ashenvale:
To get the Dragonslayer’s Helm, head into the Shadowfang Keep dungeon in Silverpine Forest and loot the sparkling helm behind the paladin boss, Commander Springvale.
The Dragonslayer’s Lance can be acquired in Dun’modr in northern Wetlands. Look for a neutral dwarf named Dark Iron Entrepreneur at 46.6, 18.2. You’ll have to fight your way through some hostile Dark Iron Dwarves to get to him. He’s in the tavern in the southwest corner of town and sells the item for 75.
Dragonslayer’s Shield can be found at Stonewatch Keep in Redridge Mountains. It’s on the wall behind Gath’Ilzogg, a level 26 elite, in a room with a lot of orcs (69.8, 55.8). You will probably either need to bring a group or wait for someone else to clear the room so you can pick the item up.
Once you have all three items, find and speak to a gnome named Alonso near Talondeep Path in Ashenvale, around 43.4, 70.6. Note that due to the widespread PvP in Ashenvale, you may have an easier time reaching him by going through Stonetalon Mountains. To do this, go through the cave in Windshear Crag in the northeast corner of Stonetalon Mountains. It will exit right next to Alonso.
When you have turned in the items, you can accept the quest Alonso the Dragonslayer. Note that he must be at his usual spot near the Talondeep Path — if you see him a little further west, that means that someone else recently did this quest and he hasn’t reset yet.
Follow him to face the “dragon” and assist him in slaying it, and he’ll reward you with the Rune of Raging Blow, which you can right-click to learn.
Shield is at Redridge and Lance at Wetlands.
This guide is very misleading; it makes it seem like you need to find Alonso first to pick up the quests…going to him first will not help you as they aren’t quests you actually pick up, you just turn in the items to him.
Corrected! Thanks for pointing that out.
Why is this so massively geared towards the Alliance faction?
