How to Get the Shadow Bolt Volley Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
This rune can be discovered in Darkshore, Loch Modan, Silverpine Forest, The Barrens, or Westfall.
Darkshore ( Alliance Zone)
To get the Shadow Bolt Volley rune, head to Darkshore and kill either of these demons:
- Delmanis the Hated, located outside the Tower of Althalaxx at 57.6 26.0.
- Xabraxxis, who is summoned during the quest The Blackwood Corrupted at 52.6, 33.6.
The demon will drop a Rune of Shadowbolts, which you can right-click to learn the rune.
Loch Modan ( Alliance Zone)
To get the Shadow Bolt Volley rune, head to Ironband’s Excavation Site in southeast Loch Modan and look for a corpse called Demonic Remains in the southeast corner of the site, at 72, 69.
Attack the remains with shadow spells such as Shadow Bolt to spawn a level 18 demon named Graix. Kill this demon to loot a Rune of Shadowbolts, which you can right-click to learn the rune.
Silverpine Forest ( Horde Zone)
To get the Shadow Bolt Volley rune, head to Beren’s Peril in southeast Silverpine Forest. The entrance to this cave is around 60, 74 and is a little tucked away. It can be found by following the road all the way south and then heading northeast into the cluster of hills below Ambermill.
Kill Ravenclaw Guardians and Ravenclaw Drudgers until one drops a Tortured Soul.
To use this item, you must be missing some health. Use Life Tap or Health Funnel if needed. Then right-click the item to summon a level 20 elite ghost by the same name (Tortured Soul). Kill it to loot a Rune of Shadowbolts, which you can right-click to learn the rune.
The Barrens ( Horde Zone)
To get the Shadow Bolt Volley rune, you must be at least level 10 and have the Drain Soul ability trained.
Head to the Sludge Fen in the northeast corner of The Barrens and look for Supervisor Lugwizzle on top of the oil platform at 56.3, 8.6 (see map below). Use Drain Soul on him until you receive a Soul of Greed.
When you have the soul, search for a Hungry Idol (see screenshot below) just south of the oil platform, next to a tree. Use the Soul of Greed on it to receive a Rune of Shadowbolts, which you can right-click to learn the rune.
Westfall ( Alliance Zone)
To get the Shadow Bolt Volley rune, you must be at least level 10 and have the Drain Soul ability trained. This method is partially shared with the Warrior’s Quick Strike Rune.
Head to the southwest coast of Westfall and look for Old Murk-Eye, the purple level 20 murloc. Use Drain Soul on him to get a Soul of the Sea.
Next, look for a statue called Idol of the Deep in the water off the coast at 26, 70. Use the Soul of the Sea there to spawn a Horror of the Deep, a level 20 non-elite that heals. Kill it to loot a Rune of Shadowbolts, which you can right-click to learn the rune.
Draining Old Murk Eye does not give me Soul Of The Sea. Tried 3 times
Edit: Oh I already got this in loch modan by accident
Step 1: Cast a curse on Demonic Remains at 72,69 in Loch Modan to spawn a demon.
Step 2: Kill it for the rune.
If you’re human do this one it’s so much better.
Hey, for Loch Modan, I had to cast Curse of Agony first to get Craix to spawn. With just Shadow Bolts, it didn’t work for me.
How about being more specific?
Kill the monsters INSIDE the cave, not just in berens hill, ffs – missleading guide
What are you on about? the guide is perfectly clear and doesn’t mention anything about caves or berens hill
Edit: I did it in a different location nevermind
