This guide will cover how to get the Shield Mastery rune for Shamans in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.
Note that there is also a Shield Mastery rune for Warriors. Here is our guide for that rune.

How to Get the Shield Mastery Rune
You can obtain this rune in either Durotar or Mulgore.
Durotar (
Horde Zone)
To get Shield Mastery, roam around the southern areas of Durotar and listen for the sound of thunder in the distance. That’s your cue that you should look around for a Glowing Totem on the ground. This totem is only up for a brief time, but can be interacted with by any Shaman that reaches it in time.
The totem will give you a Galvanic Icon, which you can right-click to equip in your relic slot. To activate it, you’ll need to kill 10 enemies with Lightning Bolt. These don’t have to be your tag, but you do need the killing blow, and they must be of a level that will give you experience. Upon reaching 10 stacks of the Inspired buff, you can right-click your equipped relic to gain the rune.
Mulgore ( Horde Zone)
To get Shield Mastery, roam around the southern areas of Mulgore and listen for the sound of thunder in the distance. That’s your cue that you should look around for a Glowing Totem on the ground. In Mulgore it’s in one exact spot, North-West from “Wildmane Water Well” in the upper part of Mulgore, near the edge of mountains.
I think that is only for Taurens from what I’m seeing people saying in game.
