This guide will cover how to get the Water Shield rune for Shamans in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

- Level: 20*
How to Get the Water Shield Rune
This rune can be discovered in Silverpine Forest or The Barrens.
Silverpine Forest (
Horde Zone)
To get the Water Shield rune, head to the Deep Elem Mine in central Silverpine Forest and kill Grimson the Pale, a level 15 worgen at the back of the cave around 57.4, 44.8. He will drop a Tempest Icon.
Right-click the idol to equip it in your relic slot. To activate it, you must hit 10 non-player enemies with 3 different elements. To best accomplish this, put Frostbrand on your weapon, throw a Lightning Bolt at the enemy, and follow that with a Flame Shock. Once you have done this 10 times and gotten all of your Inspired stacks, you can open your character window and right-click the idol again to get the rune.
It is important to note that Tempest Icon requires level 20 to equip, meaning you cannot get this rune before level 20.
The Barrens ( Horde Zone)
To get the Water Shield rune, head to The Barrens and kill Kolkar Wranglers and Kolkar Stormers around the pools near the Crossroads. Eventually one will drop a Kolkar Booty Key.
Take this key to one of the Kolkar’s Booty chests located at (44, 38), (43, 24), or (53, 42). Open it to loot a Tempest Icon.
Right-click the idol to equip it in your relic slot. To activate it, you must hit 10 non-player enemies with 3 different elements. To best accomplish this, put Frostbrand on your weapon, throw a Lightning Bolt at the enemy, and follow that with a Flame Shock. firebrand doesnt seem to work 100%… just use rockbiter weapon with Way of the Earth rune to get Earth Shock not on the same CD as your other shocks, then use Flame Shock>Earth Shock, Frost Shock. Worked 100% of the time for me.
