This guide will cover how to get the Shadow Word: Death rune for Priests in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Shadow Word: Death Rune

This rune can be discovered in any of the following zones: Darkshore, Loch Modan, The Barrens, Silverpine Forest, or Westfall.

Darkshore ( Alliance Zone)

To obtain the Shadow Word: Death rune, head to Darkshore and find a small island near Auberdine with a Remnant, which looks like a glowing orb (30.4, 48.0). Click it to loot a Prophecy of a King’s Demise.

To use the item and get the rune, you’ll need to have two different Meditation buffs active at the same time. See our Meditations Guide if you need help with this. You’ll then be able to use the item and acquire the rune.

Loch Modan ( Alliance Zone)

To obtain the Shadow Word: Death rune, head to the northeastern corner of Loch Modan and look for a snake statue called Heretic Idol around 71.5, 27.5. Stand in front of this idol and type /kneel in the chat window to get a Prophecy of a King’s Demise.

To use the item and get the rune, you’ll need to have two different Meditation buffs active at the same time. See our Meditations Guide if you need help with this. You’ll then be able to use the item and acquire the rune.

The Barrens ( Horde Zone)

To obtain the Shadow Word: Death rune, head to The Barrens and locate a Desert Mirage, an elite mob that looks like a ghost, close to Ratchet around 57, 38. Use your Dispel Magic ability on it and it will instantly die and you can loot Prophecy of a King’s Demise.

Silverpine Forest ( Horde Zone)

To obtain the Shadow Word: Death rune, head to Fenris Isle in Silverpine Forest. Climb to the second floor of the fortress and look for a scroll on a table behind Thule Ravenclaw, a level 24 elite, at 65.8, 23.6. Click the scroll to loot a Prophecy of a King’s Demise. A group will make this easier due to the presence of the elite and a lot of gnolls in the room, but you don’t actually have to kill them to loot the scroll.

Westfall ( Alliance Zone)

To obtain the Shadow Word: Death rune, you’ll first need to kill Leprithus, a level 19 rare mob in Westfall near Jangolode Mine (he can also be found wandering in the southeast of the zone). He will drop a Prophecy of a King’s Demise.
