This guide will cover how to get the Shield of Righteousness rune for Paladins in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Shield of Righteousness Rune

To get this rune, you will need to be at least level 50 in order to pick up the quest.

Start off by killing the Slack-Jawed Ghoul in Eastern Plaguelands — he should be patrolling somewhere northwest of Darrowshire, around (35.0, 75.0). Kill him to release the spirit of Orthas the dwarf. He’ll give you the quest Oi! along with Orthas’ Favorite Gold Tooth, which you can use to summon his spirit again later.

Head to the Corin’s Crossing a little to the east, and head to the second floor of the house located at (61.4, 69.5). Find and loot Orin’s Hammer to get an Ornate Warhammer.

Summon and speak to Orthas again to pick up the next quest, Oh No Ye Don’t! Now, kill Abominations at Corin’s Crossing to get a Partially-Digested Plate Armor. Turn this item in to Orthas to pick up another quest, A Wee Bit O’ Necromancy.

Head into the Stratholme (Undead) dungeon (the one you enter through the back gate) and defeat Maleki the Pallid to loot a Necrotic Runestone.

Take this runestone to the Undercroft in Eastern Plaguelands and turn in the quest at the Rotting Dwarf Corpse (27.6, 85.4). You’ll pick up the next quest, Send Me On Me Way! Do as Orthas asks and set his spirit free, and then open the Mysterious Chest for the last quest, A Thane’s Gratitude, which will award you the rune. Note that this quest chain also rewards you with the Hammer of the Fallen Thane.
