Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker Guide – WoW Classic & Season of Discovery (SoD)

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker Guide

Welcome to the WoW Classic Era Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker guide! This guide will teach you all you have to know about the coveted legendary blade, how it can be attained, and what path you must tread on your epic journey to gain the destructive power of the Wind Seeker. The journey will have you travel across Azeroth, fighting some of the most deadly foes inside the Molten Core, visiting the harsh desert of Silithus, gathering materials learning secret goblin smelting techniques, and finally ending with an encounter with the fearsome Prince of Air, Thunderaan.

How to acquire Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker

To begin your epic quest of attaining the legendary blade, you will need to venture into the Molten Core and acquire one of two particular legendary items. Unlike Sulfuras, Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker can be harder to acquire, strictly due to the low drop rates of the items involved. As such, many players struggled to complete the requirements to trigger the quest line.

Once you find yourself in the Molten Core, you will need to acquire either one of the Bindings of the Windseeker, as the item is split into two different halves. You can start the quest line by acquiring either the left half of the Bindings of the Windseeker or the right half of the Bindings of the Windseeker. It doesn’t matter which side you acquire first, as any of the items can trigger the necessary first step.

The left half of the Bindings of the Windseeker can be acquired from Baron Geddon while the right half of the Bindings of the Windseeker can be acquired from Garr! The issue with the items themselves is that they only have a 3% drop rate, meaning that multiple runs will be required to attain either one of the halves.

Once you acquire either one of the halves, you must journey to the harsh desert of Silithus and find Highlord Demitrian. He can be found in the top left corner of Silithus, in the Ravaged Twilight Camp. Upon discovering him, all you will have to do is initiate talk to him and present one of the halves of the Bindings of the Windseeker.

He will be shocked to discover that you found one of the bindings of his master’s eternal prison and will urge you to aid him in freeing the master of his shackles, ushering in his rebirth. Upon discussing with Highlord Demitrian, he will grant you an item named Vessel of Rebirth, which can be clicked to start the Examine the Vessel Quest. The quest can be completed easily by simply turning it over to Highlord Demitrian after accepting it. He will then promptly offer another quest, Thunderaan the Windseeker, which acts as the main quest of this epic journey.

However, if you thought that acquiring just one of the halves was complicated, the quest will now have you face the Fire Lord Ragnaros himself to gain the Essence of the Firelord, gather 10 Elementium Bars, and acquire the other half of the Bindings of the Windseeker, depending on which one of them you found first.

List of Materials required for the Thunderaan the Windseeker quest

Now comes the truly daunting part of the quest, as the materials can be extremely hard to acquire. As you certainly know, the drop rate for the Bindings of the Windseeker is horrendously low, meaning that you may have to grind Molten Core for a considerable amount of time. Thankfully, the Essence of the Firelord has a 100% drop rate, if you have the quest, meaning that you will only have to grind the other half of the Bindings of the Windseeker.

The Elementium Bars can be both extremely hard and easy to acquire at the same time. Since the items themselves are considered “Trade Goods”, they can be bought from the Auction House or simply bought directly from a miner who already has the recipe. The issue is that the recipe is hard to come by and the materials required to create just one Elementium Bar are very expensive, requiring a special interaction to be taught, which makes Elementium Bar extremely valuable as a result. You may directly buy them if you have the necessary gold or you can opt for the traditional method of acquiring them.

As Elementium Bars are not taught by any trainer, learning the skill involves a difficult task that requires a very specific group setup. You will have to venture forth into Blackwing Lair with a group that contains a Priest and a miner with a 300 skill in Mining. Once inside the Blackwing Lair, you will have to venture deep into the raid and find Master Elemental Shaper Krixix. The Priest in your group will have to Mind Control Master Elemental Shaper Krixix and use his Teach Smelt Elementium on the player with the 300 skill in Mining.

To craft a single Elementium Bar, you will need to gather 1 x Elementium Ore, 10 x Arcanite Bar, 1 x Fiery Core, and 3x Elemental Flux. The ore can be gained from Blackwing Technicians inside the Blackwing Lair while the Arcanite Bars can be acquired from alchemists or bought from the Auction House. The Fiery Cores can be looted from Trash Mobs in Molten Core while the Elemental Flux can be bought from vendors in any city.

Once you acquire all the materials, head back to Highlord Demitrian at the Ravaged Twilight Camp in Silithus and prepare for an epic battle! It is advised to gather a large group of strong allies before heading out to Silithus, as the next part of the quest line can prove to be difficult.

As you reach Highlord Demitrian, you will have to prepare your group for the moment that you turn over the quest, as Highlord Demitrian will instantly begin to summon Prince Thunderaan, freeing him of his shackles. Have your tank ready to pick up aggro and your healers on standby! Upon defeating Prince Thunderaan, you will be able to pick up the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade.

Defeating Prince Thunderaan and picking up the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade will now leave Highlord Demitrian utterly horrified, as he sees his master’s ruin brought right before his eyes swiftly. You will now be able to talk to Highlord Demitrian as he cowers in fear, offering you the Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker in exchange for the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade and for sparring his life.

Changes to Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker in the Season of Discovery

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker is surely going to be one of the most desired items in Season of Discovery, yet, it is currently unknown whether the devs plan on modifying the item. Taking into account the changes that occurred to Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros in the Season of Discovery, we are certain that Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker will also receive a much-deserved buff, empowering any who dare challenge Thunderaan to wield it.

We are yet to hear any news from the devs regarding whether they plan to adjust the drop rates of Bindings of the Windseeker or not for the Season of Discovery which may speed up the quest line process, however, we will keep our eyes open.

This section of the guide will be updated once more information is released regarding plans about the Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker in the Season of Discovery!
