This guide will cover how to get the Blood Surge rune for Warriors in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

- Added: Phase 2
- Level: 40 (Recommended)
How to Get the Blood Surge Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
For the Blood Surge rune, go to Alterac Mountains or Stromgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands and kill elite ogres until one drops an Illegible Recipe. Here are the mobs that can drop it:

When you have the recipe, right-click it in your bags to start the quest Anyone Can Cook. Turn this in to Skonk, an Amateur Chef near a cave in southeast Arathi Highlands at 57.6, 74.5. He will give you the quest A Quick Grocery Run.
For this quest, you’ll need to gather four ingredients:
- Hybrid Haunch from Wild Gryphons in northeast Hillsbrad Foothills
- Smuggler’s Spice Blend from a barrel in a sunken ship in Arathi Highlands (20, 83) — see map below
- Balmy Brew from a Tapped Shadowforge Keg in the basement of Angor Fortress in Badlands
- Viscous Venom from Deathstrike Tarantulas in southern Swamp of Sorrows
Return to Skonk to turn in the quest and you’ll receive both the rune plus Shawarmageddon!

i have killed 150 ogre in alterac and not dropped
Make sure it’s the elite ogres and not the regular ones. It took us about 30 kills or so to get ours.
I’ll make a note in the guide that it must be elites.
who made this guide with no info, how can you not specify which spiders in swamp of sorrows, i was farming for 30min the wrong kind. make it known

how tf do u get to underwater boat ffs, no guide explain this, can you go from stormgarde or u have to swim from thandol span??
You cross the bridge at Thandol Span, and walk down the ramp east of the dark dwarves encampment.
