This guide will cover how to get the Hot Streak rune for Mages in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Hot Streak Rune

This rune can be found in either Alterac Mountains or Arathi Highlands. It’s recommended that you head to Alterac Mountains, where the item you need has a 100% drop rate.

Alterac Mountains (Contested Zone)

To get the Hot Streak rune, head to Alterac Mountains, which you can reach by going north from Hillsbrad Foothills. Optionally, you can go to Sofera’s Naze in Alterac Mountains and kill Syndicate mobs until one drops a Singed Note. This is meant to be a clue, but you can skip it.

With or without the note, travel to Strahnbrad and look for the Blacksmith Forge (60.0, 46.4). You’ll see two bellows pumping into the sides of the building. They need to be set on fire with one of your AOE spells like Living Flame or Flamestrike. This will summon a level 35 Ancient Fire Elemental. Kill it to loot Spell Notes: Hot Streak, which you can right-click to learn the rune.

Arathi Highlands (Contested Zone)

Note that this location has a very low drop rate, and you are probably better off heading to Alterac Mountains.

To get the Hot Streak rune in Arathi Highlands, head to the Circle of West Binding near the western wall and kill Burning Exiles until one drops Spell Notes: Hot Streak. Right-click this item to learn the rune.

–Spoiler– Do not bother with the burning exiles in Arathi Highlands, they are lvl 38-40 and have a dismal drop rate. Instead go straight for the Alterac Mountains one, 100% drop rate!
