How to Get the Master of Subtlety Rune
As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.
Original Discovery Method
Visit the Kurzen Compound in northeast Stranglethorn Vale. Inside the tower you will be able to talk to Wendel Mathers (44.2, 8.0), who will ask you to Pick Pocket the Kurzen Elites inside of the nearby cave for a Compound Cage Key. While in there, you should also lockpick the Kurzen Supply Crate requiring 125 Lockpicking to get a Kurzen Fighter’s Uniform.
Bring both of these back to Wendel Mathers free him, after which he will immediately run away. Head over to Booty Bay and have a chat with Captain Aransas (27.6, 76.6), found on the lower level. He’ll give you Captain Aransas’ Reward, which contains the rune as well as Jani’s Charm. (Jani’s Charm is used to help Priests get the Dispersion Rune.)
It is highly recommended to wait till level 35 to do this one, as the mobs in the cave are about level 37 where you need to go.
