This guide will cover how to get the Rapid Killing Rune for Hunters in Season of Discovery. We’ll go over all of the locations and requirements in the walkthrough below as well as any useful tips and tricks.

How to Get the Rapid Killing Rune

As of Phase 6, all runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in starting zones and major cities for 1 copper a piece. Each of these vendors is simply named “Rune Broker” and can be easily spotted by their purple glow, lurking very close to where new characters enter the game. You can see all of their locations in our guide below.

Original Discovery Method

Rapid Killing is obtained by first entering the cave in the northwest corner of Searing Gorge (21, 35). Far inside you’ll find a tablet called Weathered Etching that starts the quest The Burning Beast. You must be at least level 45 to start this quest.

This quest sends you to Blasted Lands to speak with a blood elf named Bloodmage Lynnore in the northern part of the zone (50, 15). She will give you the next quest, Chains That Bind, and direct you to kill Shadowsworn in the zone until you get five Infernal Chain Links. The best place to farm these is on the eastern side of the zone.

Return to Bloodmage Lynnore with the chains to get the quest Brought to Heel. You’ll need to defeat a level 50 Core Hound named Calefactus the Unleashed. He’ll be somewhere around Dreadmaul Post (48, 38). You can use Track Beasts to help you find him. Use the Infernal Lasso you were given to get a Fel Lifeblood from him.

Return to Bloodmage Lynnore once more to get your Rune of the Ravenous plus the Infernal Lasso, which will allow you to tame the Core Hound as a pet!
