Blizzard is making free server transfers available for players on specific US Classic Era servers.
More specifically, you will be able to transfer your characters to:
- To Mankrik, from Atiesh, Bloodsail Buccaneers and Remulos
- To Whitemane, from Arugal, Deviate Delight, Faerlina, Grobbulus, Loatheb, Sulfuras, Sul’thraze
Note that ordinary server transfer restrictions, such as not being able to have characters of opposite factions on a PvP server or being unable to transfer as a guild leader still apply.
Blizzard further note that these transfers are one-way – Customer Support will not be able to reverse them should you regret transfering, so consider this decision carefully.
This is likely an effort to consolidate lower population servers into fewer, higher population servers, as Classic Era servers are currently suffering from extreme underpopulation, a phenomenon that’s been reported as ongoing since the release of TBC Classic in June.
It is very possible that free character transfers for EU servers will soon follow, as they are currently facing similar issues.

Please note that restrictions apply:
- A character cannot move if the character:
- is a guild leader.
- has active auction listings or bids.
- has mail.
- You may be required to change your character’s name once you’ve reached the destination realm.
- You cannot move a character to a PvP realm where you already have a character belonging to the opposing faction.
- This is a one-way, irreversible move. Blizzard Customer Support cannot monitor or modify a free character move.
During periods of high usage, free character moves may take up to several hours to complete.
